People often talk about natural resources, but what actually this term means? Natural resources refer to a substance or material such as forests, minerals, energy, water, coal and fertile land, which can be categorized into renewable resources and non-renewable resources. Effective management of natural resources are important for its sustainability. Thinking the way and to ensure the sustainability of our natural resources, the roles of NGOs here are importance. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are organization that not establishes to earn a profit, but are organized to perform a variety of activities and services. Sahabat Alam Malaysia (SAM), World Wide Fund for Nature-Malaysia (WWF-Malaysia) and Malaysian Environmental Non-Governmental Organizations (MENGOs) are example of NGOs in Malaysia that play a role in maintaining natural resources. Nowadays, we can see that, the exploitation of natural resources becomes common for own goods and economic gain. But, why people do this? NGOs should take a major role in implementing awareness campaign, conserve and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources and enlighten the public about the importance of using eco-friendly equipment. Natural resources serving our need and want by providing shelter, foods, air, water and energy. However, we can see today, the exploitation of natural resources for own goods, economic gain, and development causes the excessive use of resources, deforestation and mining for oil and minerals, that finally bring to the depletion of natural resources. What are the effects if natural resources are not protect by public? As we can see today, air pollution, land and water disruption, decease such as asthma due to the air pollution are the consequences if... ... middle of paper ... ...te to think an alternative to decrease the usage of non-CFC product In conclusion, natural resources are required to complete the psychological need of human. Conservation and preservation of the natural resources is essential for maintaining its sustainability. Here the role of NGOs in maintaining our natural resources, such as implement awareness campaign, conserve and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources and emphasize the usage of eco-friendly equipment are the way or protective measures that can decrease the depletion of natural resources. As a community that care about our resources, we need to rethink before doing something that could deplete our natural resources and endangered environment. NGOs as well as society must work together to fulfil their responsibility to conserve, protect, and care for the natural resources for the next generation.
Today, we take many of our natural resources for granted without think about the consequences. For example, cutting down trees, burning fossil fuel, and the consumption of meat. Our ozone layer is becoming weaker and weaker to due factories burning too much fossil fuel. This causes too much carbon dioxide, which affects our ozone layer. If we can limit the amount of natural resources we use on a daily basis, we will be able to see a big change in society.
It is difficult for humans to live in harmony with nature because humans’ selfishness always places profits before our earth’s needs. We live in a consumer society, which we purchase interesting products and dispose of them carelessly. Those products with non-decomposable materials, which make our life easier and more comfortable, result a massive damage to our environment. In the articles, “A Fable for Tomorrow” by Rachel Carson and “Our Animals Rite” by Anna Quindlen, both authors suggest destruction in nature world due to human’s activities. As environment issues presented by scientists, governments around the world start to give highly attention on the environmental protection, but there are many challenges in implementing environmental protection policies. Some of the top environmental concerns are air pollution, climate changing and trash waste. Although people started to aware the horrible consequences due to polluted environment, an efficient life, people apathy toward ecosystem and human's unlimited desires for a confortable life have created obstacles for the world to protect the environment.
The modern world is fuelled by oil (Youngquest, 1998). This reality has brought tremendous changes and developments that is continuously transforming the modern period, changing its lifestyles and economies in the last 200 years. However, these changes do not only paved for modernization and development, but it has also paved for the environmental crisis that the world is now facing (Bodley, 2008). Environmental crisis refers to the degradation of the environmental quality due to human intervention in natural processes. In other words, as human beings consume and deplete the resources of the world, our industrial by-products are piling up (Bodley, 2008). As such, it is important to stress the fact that environmental crisis is not only about environmental problems, but it is about the intertwined concerns regarding politics, economics, society and ideologies (Bodley 2008, p. 43).
Sustainability is the ability to be sustained, supported, upheld or confirmed. According to UN (2014), “sustainability is the procedure of development which assists the future generation ability to meet their needs with present needs. The utmost practice of sustainability is in relation to sustainability development. Sustainable development is a forming standard for human life on a determinate world (d.n, 2014).
In addition, natural resource economics covers concepts like the study of ownership, development, utilization, conservation and the management of these natural resources. This area’s main objective is striving to achieve a better understanding of the role of natural resources in the broader economy for purpo...
Political ecology also involves conflicts between people and institutions over resources, in both developed world and developing world contexts. The use of natural resources and the creation of a sustainable environment is a critical issue that must be observed from different perspectives. Does it permit sustainable resources? Is it a threat to local security? How is income distributed through societies, both gender and location wise? Who decides how these are to be classified? These are key problems in political ecology.
so that it may yield sustainable benefits for the present generation while maintaining its potential to meet the need and aspiration of future generation. Wise use of the world natural resources efficiently to produce the greatest possible benefits to man over the longest possible period of time. It does not mean nonuse of resources but it means wise and judicious use to ensure continued supply. And in other word one can say that the Exploitation, improvement, and protection of human and natural resources in a wise manner, ensuring derivation of their highest economic and social benefits on a continuing or long-term basis. Conservation is achieved through alternative technologies, recycling, and reduction in waste and spoilage, and (unlike preservation) implies consumption of the conserved
An Environmental Management Plan is a specific plan developed to implement the correct practices and procedures are followed during the construction and operation of the development. It involves the application of the identified methods for controlling environmental concerns. The EMP ensures the development complies with any conditions and legislation requirements outlined in the Environmental Impact Assessment. The plan ensures risks involved in construction and development are correctly managed.
Nowadays, there are a lot of social, environmental and economic issues arise for instance global warming, economic fluctuations, climates changes, child labour, gender discrimination and also other problems that are widely discussed by the society at all levels. The discussion has led to demand for solutions of problems and to find ways to conserve also preserve the available scarce resources. This is to ensure the achievement of healthy ecosystems, equitable societies and overall sustainable future through sustainable development.
Natural environment changes are increasingly threatening environmental sustainability. An environment is said to be every object that is found on earth whether living or non-living. We human use resources of the environment (water, land and air) for our own benefits. The more we use the resources of the environment the more we apply or cause pressure on the environment. When there is much pressure on the environment in such a way that the carrying capacity of the environment is over exceeded and can no longer repair itself, this may harm the environment is a big way. Some of the environmental resources such as ground water are non-renewable so if we over use them we lose them forever. Therefore it is important for us to know that our environment is important to all of us so it is important for us to take care of it by protecting it and it is also important to raise awareness on how to protect our environment. It is important for us to use resources with much care and it is our responsibility to protect the environment, it is not a duty for the government only but it is a
There has been a tremendous attention from EU scholars about environmental policy. Since the 1970’s there has been numerous environmental crises and the emergency of an environmental, social movement in several European countries, but even after green politics in Europe quietened and environmental policy gained a ‘normal’ status in the “acquis communautaire”, this attention never subsided.
Today talking about environmental issues lately to be like a common topic discussion until people take it for granted. However, the world facing a complex environmental problems related to each trouble that connected to one another and come out with greater impacts to the environment and humans. This is because the effects of environmental only can be seen in long term period rather than immediately result show up. Environmental issues must become one of the controversial matters in the society in order to make people know the truth what the world currently facing. There were a lot of environmental disaster happened such as climate change, global warming, various of pollutions, earthquake and etc. the rise of environmental issues begin with this urban development occur through several countries following with the technologies equip along. For sure, development will cause a huge negative impact to the environment if it deals without a care. Besides, the environment is the place in the ecosystem to hold and use in finding resources to continuously survive in this world. Thus, the finding and digging for the resources which happening extensively without preservation will not restore the surrounding similar with before. But then, the change cannot be refuse and people need to take an action to save the threaten the world and the ecosystem from being extinct. If each country has own output in causing an environmental problem, then consider the world to hold all the damage occurred. Exposing the effects of environmental issues throughout the world, make people realize the important to take care the environment.
According to Tolba (2016, p.13) “The problems that overwhelm us today are precisely those we failed to solve decades ago”. Healthy environment always provide us with a beautiful sight to pass through, fresh air to breathe in and an amazing features to snap with. Conservation of environment contributes to wellbeing of the people. When the beautiful and wonderful things are conserved many people around the globe dreams to visit our beautiful country and when they chase their dreams to come true it contributes to huge National Income. I will use my degree environmental science in conservation of natural environment and resources. As we have ideas related to root causes of environmental problems, their solution and conservation history. We have also studied about the environmental Ethics which evaluates relationships, rules, principles or codes that require certain conduct for healthy environment. We being environmental students also cover a lot about environment ecosystem and importance of balance in ecosystem. Preservation and conservation of these rich environments can lead to development of the country as the natural resources conserved. When income of the country from natural resource increases, the living standard of the people also increases which result in development of the
Conserving environment has become one of the most important issues of 21st century. There has been a significant rise in the establishment of environmental protection NPOs around the world, these Non-profit organization not only protect environment but also raise awareness of declining climate changes among people. In this essay I will discuss the efforts of NPOs in the environmental protection and the difficulties these organization encounter during their work.
I have understood that the Sustainability study involves the transformation of our civilization toward a regenerative system that promotes healthy and stable ecosystems, consumes natural resources no faster than they can replenish, releases toxic pollutants into our habitat no faster than they can be absorbed, fosters healthy and cohesive habitats that can coexist and continue long time in the future. Sustainability initiatives work to change the world by changing activities in our personal and professional lives to achieve these objectives. I have learned that the Sustainability Revolution is a collection of values centered on healthy ecosystems, economic activities, and social justice. From the intensive focus on this topic during the last few weeks and from further readings on this subject, I have learned that Sustainability encompasses not just conservation and pollution, but a wide array of other issues, including Eco literacy, biodiversity, globalization, socially responsible investing, corporate social responsibility, human rights, population explosion, health, social and environmental justice, farming, labor issues, and women’s rights. I have also learned that Sustainability strategies are essential, transformative, and collaborative work involving participation of hundreds of thousands of citizens, communities and businesses around the world. Every organization and informed citizen needs to understand the perils that lie ahead and contribute their part towards Sustainability
