The idea of a healthy lifestyle is essential for everyone and a lot of us ignore this fact. I was able to learn to a great extent on how to live my life healthier with choices I do with my diet. Everyone should be willing to get educated in the ideas of nutrition and health. As a student, I have learned that I have to start making better choices on my diet and how I take care of my body. My Dine Healthy User Profile tells me that I am considered overweight because the ideal weight for a person my height and a person my age is high. My weight is 170 lbs, but the desirable weight for a person my height is at 120 to 161 lbs, this makes my body mass index at 25.9 overweight. In order for me to live a healthy lifestyle I need to not go past these calories so I do not gain weight. With the amount of energy I waste per day on just my usual day with school and volleyball, I am able to burn all of it. Although if I do not take care of myself with physical activities I am able to become unhealthy with the choices I make in my diet. As an athlete you need to make sure you are eating all of the necessary things needed in order to perform correctly at workouts and the court. I am able to eat a good amount of carbohydrates, protein, and fat because I need it for all of the energy I use throughout the day. We all have those days when we feel like we did not do that well at practice or just feel a lot tired than usual, but this is all because we are not either not eating correctly or not eating the amount of food needed for your body to function correctly. It is very important for me to eat all of those necessary nutrients to perform correctly with my student-athlete lifestyle. We often make new year resolutions but often give up shortly a couple days later, why? To achieve a healthy lifestyle all you have to do is look at the big picture, plan ahead, maintain a healthy diet, and exercise.
What it means to be healthy are the ways in which you treat your body positively. This would include emotional, physical, mentally, socially and the foods you consume on a daily basis. In those aspects it would mean to keep your body in good shape, keep yourself emotionally and mentally stable, and having a good relationship with not only the people around you but with yourself. Being healthy to me does not mean that you do not have a disease because, there are people who have diseases but are healthier than some of us who do not have a disease. Being healthy means to give your body the proper nutrition it needs and not stuffing it with processed and unhealthy foods.
There are plenty of people that do not pay close attention to the nutrition labels on food or do not understand what’s in the food that we eat. If we are expecting the parents, adults, or some of the children to be healthy and are not able to read the nutrition label, how can we expect them to have healthy lifestyles? In order for this new generation be healthy and active. We need to provide them with the support and resources they need. In order, to have a healthy routine. We should be able to offer the support that needs to be able to receive a better outcome for our future generations and as well as the current one.
