Somebody once said that it takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. Although the story Jem showed a lot of courage and started maturing when he needed to be.Jem has changed the most because he went through a lot of changes that made him mature through it all. First of all, Jem began to mature when he started to spend time with mrs. Dubose.Jem began to change when mrs.Dubose died it was like one of the first big changes he had went through plus it was the first death he experienced, Jem opened the box. Then he rose and broke the remaining code of our childhood. (187 - 188 ) This is what was left of Jem childhood, but now he had completely destroyed it. Scout knew this was the end of Jem being a little kid he was finally growing up. What was left of Jem’s childhood is not here anymore, but he has matured the most when he started to act like a teenager even though he was only twelve. Lastly , Jem may be maturing but he still acts like a child in a way even when they lost the case. Jem really thought they were going to win this one so when they lost he was really disappointed. It was Jem’s turn to cry.
