Issues of human rights in South Africa today
Human rights is the right every person owns, simply because they are human. This is the highest governing rule or laws in South Africa, and the list of human rights is protected by the bill of rights which is in the chapter 2 of the South African constitution (Anon., 2011).
But the main question is: is if it is fair and just? Although the government has put the bill of rights in place for all human and society to be seen as ‘fair and just’ and everyone to be treated as equals (Anon., 2011) there is still violations of our human rights, bellow we will discuss the most pressing ones in my opinion.
Equality:
This is probably the most violated right in my opinion and falls under Article 1 of the bill of rights. The most recent violation of this right is towards homosexuality within South African as in 38 of 53 states in south Africa homosexuality is illegal and punishable within others such as Uganda. This directly violates sections 2 of this article: “All men and women shall have equal protection under the law.” But as society too among our piers homosexuality is frowned upon by many. As these issues were raised and discussed within a conference in Cape Town, problems are finally being resolved slowly but surely (Boell, 2011). But one way as society can combat this as themselves is too be welcoming and accept persons of this nature, we should treat others as equal and create a leading example to our fallow peers.

There have been many humanitarians that strive to help countries suffering with human right abuses. People think that the help from IGOs and NGOs will be enough to stop human rights violations. However, it hasn’t been effective. Every day, more and more human rights violations happen. The problem is escalating. People, including children, are still being forced to work to death, innocent civilians are still suffering the consequences of war, and families are struggling to stay firm together. Despite the efforts from the people, IGOs, and NGOs, In the year 2100, human rights abuse will not end.

Human Rights are rights that are understood to belong rightly to every person. People are often familiar with human rights in the specific region they tend be in, such as American rights and Canadian rights. However the topic of discussion is human rights in international law, these are rights that one has simply because there human. Human rights in international law encompass everyone, everywhere throughout the world. International human rights are not just rights that people think of, make up, or are rights that they have always thought they were entitled to. International human rights actually has place in law, it has place in international law. In the simplest of terms, human rights are those that undoubtedly belong to each person. We live in the 21st century where no human right is an equal right. We were issued human rights to be treated equal but everyday life situations show me that society is so unfair. Human rights are made to be inalienable fundamental rights to which a person is entitled to do because he or she is a human being. Human rights are meant to be natural rights to anyone who takes part in America's population. Human rights can be defined as rights that are believed to belong justifiably to every person. World War I and World War II of the twentieth century is what led to the development of the human rights. The human rights were derived from 18 members of many various political, cultural and even religious backgrounds. Authors consisted of those from John Peters Humphrey, Charles Malik, Peng Chun Chang, William Hodgson and Eleanor Roosevelt to name just a few. At the time that human rights were created it was for the people who faced such horror. I put myself in society shoes and I notice that the Human Rights are more of a dream than reality. When stating my opinion, each state has its own violation of the human rights of some kind. Tortured or abused in at least 81 countries, unfair trials in at least 54 countries, and lastly but definitely not the least restriction in freedom of expression in at least 77 countries.
Human rights are regarded as the keystone of modernity. There are various international bills to entrench the modern ideas of human rights, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Human beings are entitled to civil and political rights against violation by the state, as long as the social, economic and cultural rights.
Proponents of human rights argue that the concept’s universality rests in its non-discriminatory character- human rights are meant for every human being- rich and poor, white and black, men and women, young and old, leaders and followers, elites and illiterate, etc- and are all treated equally.
The contemporary canon of human rights refers to the entire set of internationally recognized human rights declarations and conventions, beginning with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and including all of the subsequently drafted and enacted international human rights instruments, such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, the Declaration on the Right to Development, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and several dozens of other international documents which identify and codify human rights norms. Given that each of these documents contain several dozen articles, many of which describe several, complex rights, all together there are probably well over one hundred things that can be identified as "human rights" based on the canon.
The doctrine of human rights were created to protect every single human regardless of race, gender, sex, nationality, sexual orientation and other differences. It is based on human dignity and the belief that no one has the right to take this away from another human being. The doctrine states that every ‘man’ has inalienable rights of equality, but is this true? Are human rights universal? Whether human rights are universal has been debated for decades. There have been individuals and even countries that oppose the idea that human rights are for everybody. This argument shall be investigated in this essay, by: exploring definitions and history on human rights, debating on whether it is universal while providing examples and background information while supporting my hypothesis that human rights should be based on particular cultural values and finally drawing a conclusion.

What is a human rights? According to the New World Encyclopedia, human rights are those rights that each person is entitled to simply because he or she is a human being. Human rights are guaranteed by law no matter one’s nationality and should not be violated by any state or non-state officials. The idea of human rights depends on the possibility that every individual has worth and nobility and in this way merits certain fundamental freedoms. With the acknowledgement of these basic freedoms, each person can make their own decisions and form their own opinions without their rights of safety or security being violated or threatened by government or nongovernment bureaucrats.
