Homeschooling is a progressive movement around the world, in which parents choose to educate their children at home instead of sending them to a traditional public or private school. It is great for children who love spending time at home and interested in learning and listening to their parents. Homeschooling was taken for the reasons that parents want to control over their children, and are concerned for their children’s safety. They believe home provides a safer learning environment. Many parents believe that their children will achieve better academic success by being homeschooled. Homeschooling may not be the best option for students. It leaves their instruction in the hands of their parents who may not have the resources or the qualifications to serve the educational needs of their students.
As concern about the problems plaguing conventional education in this country continues to rise, so has the number of families opting for the once radical alternative of home schooling. Homeschooling short-changes students by leaving them without trained teacher, a comprehensive education, and exposure to more than a single intellectual or ethical point of view. In order for home schooling to become a viable educational option, more research needs to be conducted on the practices efficacy. The average of homeschooler scored at 89th percent; language, 84 percent; math, 84 percent; science, 86 percent; and social studies, 84 percent . In the core studies reading, language and math, homeschooled student average scored 88 percentile. The average public school student taking the standardized tests scored 50 percent in each subject area. In results Homeschool student were slightly better than most large academic study reading and the average test results were 30 percent point higher than public school
