What is the meaning of a healthy lifestyle? I’ve been seeking the answer to this question since I was a freshman in high school. My attitude towards life then was the stereotypical attitude of a teenager: rude, wild, and irresponsible. However, now, as an adult, I think there is much more to a healthy life style, and which I 'm very passionate about. For example, relationships are one of the fundamentals of life. Whether it 's with partners, friends, or community it is a deeply nurturing necessity of a healthy life style. Another major part of a healthy life style is mental health and well-being. Healthy living is all about taking responsibility for my decisions and making smarter choices for today and for the future. In fact, I think positive relationships are one of the key fundamentals of living a healthy life style. I’ve learned over the years that happiness and success are largely influenced by the relationships I 've built with others. Having trusted people I can turn to for encouragement and support has boosted my courage in tough times. For example, the day my seventeen year old brother past away was the day my whole life shatter in front of me. I 've realized that the tragic filling of losing a brother will always stay with me forever. However, I 'm so thankful for my extraordinary family and friends. When I 'm talking of a health life style, it 's not just about having positive relationships, but also about me having positive mental health. Honestly, Becoming mentally and emotionally strong isn 't something that happens overnight. But the days when I 'm free of depression, anxiety, stress, and worry, I 'm more able to live my life to the fullest. “Scientists have shown that mental states such as stress and depression have a clear influence on the immune system, while certain diseases produce predictable changes in mood and behavior, hinting that psychological and social approaches may have an important role to play in preventing disease or shortening its course (Weiss, 1994).” My mental health is very important to me. I will not have a healthy body if I don 't also take care of my mind. My friends and family depend on me. It 's important for me to take care of myself, so that I can handle the curve balls that life throughs my way. Whether it 's work, death of a family member, or money good mental health helps me enjoy life and cope with problems. Just as I take care of my body by eating right and exercising, I can do things to protect my mental health. In fact, one of my favorite things to protect my mental health is to challenge myself every once in a while. I like taking courses at Michelle Community College that have helped me gain new insights which I had not considered
To a high degree, society needs to be more open minded and realize there is little difference between the communities of “healthy” and “unhealthy” to allow everyone to fulfill a successful lifestyle in individual ways.
Being healthy in body and mind is the core of personal wellness. Getting to that point though is a process and it takes deliberate actions to make it happen. It requires choosing which behaviors will help and which ones won't. It requires making decisions every day that helps take a person to a better state of body and mind health.
A healthy life is when you actually are doing healthy eating and exercising while wellness is when one makes the approach to a healthy life and understand the benefits that come with it. Wellness if the keeping of a healthy life, while healthy eating comes and goes. When you truly have wellness, you want to keep the heathy life and don’t want to go back to the disease filled habits. Many of you are probably thinking, “what’s the point of having wellness”, and to answer your question simply, it’s a way to help prevent reoccurrence on an unhealthy lifestyle. Think of alcoholics who are trying to be sober, their wellness is their mental commitment to not go back to their prior habits. That is the same thing with health wellness, it’s the mental commitment to be healthy and keep oneself from the disastrous and life destroying habits of unhealthy
What comes to mind when being asked what the most important aspect of our life is ? Could it be money, or clothes, or friends? The answer is quite easy, its our Health. Without our health we have nothing. Each and every person should evaluate their personal health and make goals accordingly. A lot of the time we think we are on track with our goals, only to realize that we are in fact not treating our health as we should. Take me for example. Before evaluating my health due to this assignment, I thought I was on the right path and making the right choices. It turns out that I needed to reevaluate.
Being isolated from other can also cause psychological decline in people who are otherwise mentally fit. Many social relationships are also a focal source of emotional support for many individuals. It seems highly important that many of our health in many ways strongly reliant on other people. Social support and social interaction have a positive effect on people physical and mental health. Have others and being social decrease amount of stress, depression, and anxiety. We are social beings who need one another to survive and lead normal
depression, and other mental conditions. They lack motivation and confidence in themselves and their lives. All of these things can be a result of simply not living a healthy lifestyle. An estimated 34.9% of American adults are obese, that doesn’t include people who are just overweight and not clinically obese! About 61% of American adults are at least overweight (O’Dell). Unhealthy eating and inactivity contributes to 310,000 to 580,000 deaths each year, according to the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). That’s thirteen times more deaths than are caused by guns and 20 times more than by drug use (“Cost”). There are many causes which can contribute to poor habits. Dysfunctional family situations such as divorce, single parent family, or foster care. Families not eating meals together. Poor eating habits modeled by parents/caretakers. Lack of knowledge about what is healthy to eat and how to exercise. Busy schedule, extreme amounts of traveling,lack of desire to eat healthy, poverty, depression and other emotional extremes (Avnet). Diseases and harmful substances are the causes of many deaths, but at the root of most death is a plain old unhealthy lifestyle. It is ignorance that is killing people, it’s as simple as a few posters here or a few commercials there to tell people just a few simple facts that could actually save their lives.
Being healthy is one of the most important Be Your Best Self aspects because it encompasses so much of our day-to-day lives. To be described as healthy, I not only have to be physically fit, but also mentally, socially, and financially fit. Being healthy has many benefits. Exercise allows a person to be a happier, calm, energized, and confident individual. The same can be said for exercising the brain, socializing, and keeping finances in order. By being healthy I will feel better every day and find fierce determination and discipline in the process.
When thinking of my overall health, a few aspects stand out that I think I could definitely improve on. When I think my current personal wellness I think it is fairly decent. There are definitely people out there far worse than myself. It could be better because there is always room for improvement. I’m a big fan of personal growth. To me if a person decides to stop growing or wanting to better themselves either mentally, physically or emotiontally. Then whats the real purpose for living? I am a fairly active person. I love to hike, stay fit and eat healthy. Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t hard for me which I think definitely contributes to a wellness.

What it means to be healthy are the ways in which you treat your body positively. This would include emotional, physical, mentally, socially and the foods you consume on a daily basis. In those aspects it would mean to keep your body in good shape, keep yourself emotionally and mentally stable, and having a good relationship with not only the people around you but with yourself. Being healthy to me does not mean that you do not have a disease because, there are people who have diseases but are healthier than some of us who do not have a disease. Being healthy means to give your body the proper nutrition it needs and not stuffing it with processed and unhealthy foods.
What makes a person healthy? Surely, it is more than exercising and a proper diet. As a ten year-old girl, being healthy had one meaning to me; to eat all my vegetables and to be physically fit. I have chosen healthcare as a career because health does not only focus on the physical aspects of wellness, but it applies to all areas of wellness, such as, intellectual, social, spiritual, financial, occupational, environmental and emotional wellness.
Being healthy is something that I put allot of emphasis on sense I was young. Sports and training soon lead to a focus on nutritional and now mental well-being. I understand the effects of stress and negativity and have been making strong efforts to both separate myself from the negative elements. Positive relationships need specific criteria in order to be successful, some include constructive conflict resolution, opinions of the people in the relationship and effective communication which will help us with the transitions in life.
