Fast Food Fast food is the term given to food that is prepared and served very quickly which was first popularized in the 1950s. At least one quarter of American adults eat fast food everyday. And one out of every eight adults has worked at some time during his or her lives. This year Americans will spend about one hundred and ten billion dollars on fast food. The first fast food restaurant was McDonald’s and started the first drive in in the 1930s. They then wanted to make food faster and cheaper by starting the factory system. Some studies show that if a person eats more fast food it can make the person more depressed. Fast food can make a person feel better for a few moments but in the long run will out a toll on the the person feels about themselves in the long run. Fast food is proven to make a person become bloated. Which can sometimes make a person’s self-esteem lower. In contradiction if a person eats foods rich in vitamin B such as beans, lean poultry, and fish can put a person in a “good mood.” Fast food can also take a toll on a person’s mental health. In the documentary, Super Size Me, Morgan Spurlock eats McDonald’s three times a day for thirty days. He consumes nothing unless it is from McDonald’s, even water. Another aspect of this challenge is when the employees of McDonald’s asks if he would like to super size his meal he must say yes. I try to stay away from those types of restaurants, especially late at night, but sometimes I cannon find the time in my day to cook a meal. Most of the time I only have a few minutes to pick something up and find myself eating it on the way to the location I need to go to. I think my problem with fast food has developed into a bigger problem after I started college. Without having a kitchen, I can not make any home cooked meals.
