There are many ups and downs that a nursing student will endure while going through a nursing program. No one will ever understand the frustrations that one will endure while going through such a rigorous program more than your fellow nursing friends that have gone through the program with you or one’s that have already gone through a similar nursing program. The connections that are made with patients, teachers, fellow colleagues, or even fellow nurses will never be forgotten and will forever be remembered. It’s hard to believe that the end is near and so many memories, good and bad have been made. The tears that have been shed were all worth it and will make all that have gone through a nursing program a better, stronger, wiser person. The
It could be a little child with a bad cough, an elderly patient that had chest pain for days or even someone that got bite by a snake. It was very interesting to see what would come through those doors. The nurses that work down in the emergency room were very helpful and appreciative of the students that would be down there. It was great getting paired up with a nurse that would take time to explain things so that I could get a better understanding of the plan of care for a patient. The paramedics down in the emergency room were also very helpful, encouraging and pushing me to get out of my comfort zone and start IVs. This was a great place to be to learn to become successful on starting IVs. It was a very fast paced environment and had so many great learning opportunities down there for a student
I wish that more time would have been spent in certain areas (it would have been nice to go to All Children’s Hospital or a level one trauma hospital to see critical care cases) but I am grateful for all the experiences that I have endured and lessons that I have learned. It has been a long journey and I am glad that this chapter of my nursing career is almost over. I am looking forward to what the future has in store for me. I have met some great people along the way that we have laughed, cried, brought bread with and leaned on each other through so many tough times. I can honestly say that I have made some great friends that I know will be forever friends. I know that I will be a great nurse because of the great clinical experiences. I only hope that I can pay it forward to all of those future nurses out there and make a difference out there for my
