Some electrical engineers specialize exclusively in one sub-discipline, while others specialize in a combination of sub-disciplines. Electrical engineers usually work in a lab, an office, a mine or in industrial plants. An electrical engineer usually can pursue a technical career in any industry. They usually supervise computer programmers, electricians, scientists and other engineers. A typical work week is composed of 40 hours although there might be some overtime to meet deadlines.
An electrical engineer also spends a lot of time doing project management, such as meeting with clients, determining budgets and preparing project schedules. Engineering projects usually require written documentation, so strong writing and communication skills are important.

Electrical engineering is a specific area of engineering that has to do with analyzing and applying what you know to electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism (Wikipedia, “Electrical”). This field of engineering has a large variety of subfields, including: electronics, digital computers, power engineering, telecommunications, control systems, and many more (Wikipedia, “Electrical”). One reason why I want to go into electrical engineering is that there are so many choices for a career path to branch to and everything comes to me so easily. I find that I enjoy the work that I do and it’s something that I am exceptionally good at. I can really see myself doing this as a lifelong career and not having to worry about getting stuck in a dead end job. The only thing I have to do to get started is decide what school I want to go to and which one will help me get to where I want to be, the best.

Electrical engineers touch everyone lives through the things they have designed or created. Electrical engineers have invented the lights in your house, the television, the stereo, the telephone, computers, and even your doctor’s blood pressure gauge (Stine 300).
Although there are a plethora of possible careers that I am capable of pursuing, I am particularly interested in a career as either an electrical engineer or a software developer. Electrical engineers fall within the Career Cluster of architecture and engineering. From 2012 to 2022, employment in the field of electrical engineering is projected to grow 4 percent, which is less than the average projected growth rate for all careers. There are no major geographic restrictions to becoming an electrical engineer, however most move to where the companies are located. Travel requirements vary from company to company, but overall the job does not demand much travel. Most electrical engineers work year round, and depending on the firm, there could be some specific peak work periods. Electrical engineers can work 40 hour weeks, or even up to 72 hour weeks, depending on their current projects. There are no major physical demands to the job. The average starting salary for electrical engineers in 2013 was $62,300 per year, and the median salary was $87,920 per year.
The civil engineering field is about gathering and interpreting data, being able to give technical presentations to colleagues, team work to design and build a project, projects range from the design and construction of dams, bridges, buildings, roads, and water supply systems. In most cases the works of engineers are admired and sought after. Engineers play an important role in the development and improvement of a society. Yet, like other technical and non-engineering careers the civil engineers also face issues, for example, regarding ethics, high energy building consumption, increased soil and coastal erosion, inadequate water quality, traffic congestion, and some poor infrastructures resilience to disasters. Another example is that unfortunately in the United Kingdom, the civil engineering industry is highly fragmented with 93% of companies having 14 or fewer employees which is not always a great idea, as written by John Miles in Civil Engineering Informatics. There is also a need to implement new professional and educational approaches to new challenges and new implications that are needed for the twenty-first century society. This paper will introduce and explain five different issues that civil engineers are currently facing and elaborate about how these challenges interrelate to each other.

The Civil Engineer must deal with the human impact of engineering. Social, moral and legal issues concern us to a far greater degree than ever before.
Electrical engineering, I believe, is the only field where one’s work becomes the most instrumental part of one’s mundane activity and life, and the output produced stays forever to credit. My perception is that, this field requires a lot of patience, perseverance and management skills in order to be successful. The connection that electrical engineering offered between me and this world is the fact that you can become a person who can impact so many lives. This made me pursue Electrical Engineering. After four years of undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering, I feel completely satisfied with my decision to choose this branch of engineering as my career option as it has revealed the most pragmatic and down-to-earth approach to tackling
The importance of civil engineer is crucial because they are central figures in the community development. Without their unique talents the communities would not grow and prosper. Buildings and roads provide the basis of the city's infrastructure. All of this is provided by them, but they use their skills to optimize performance and efficiency of community systems. Also the engineer develops water and sewer systems that balances safety standards with delivery of water and sewer processing, which has a major function on city's operation and people's health and comfort.
In the most basic sense, engineering means “making things happen.” It is the practical application of science and math, the two subjects I am most passionate about, to solve everyday problems. It opens up a world of opportunity to create innovative technology that influences many aspects of people’s lives, this giving an individual the power to make a difference.
