Reflection on adjusting to differences
I graduated high school in Bangladesh. There are many differences between the education I was accustomed to in school and the education I am getting now. Also these homework carry a large portion of the grade, this was never the case back in Bangladesh. While I studied in school I used to frequently not finish my assignments. But, that was completely ok because assignments did not have any effect on the grades at all. All of the final result was dependent on the exams. Also school education was much more slowly paced. The amount of information we cover in one semester in a university would take at least one year to cover in school. All of these culminated into me having far less fee time than I have ever had. The university professors also expect the students to be active participants in the learning process. At first this new academic environment seemed like a nuisance to me but I quickly realized the problems I was facing can be solved by making good use of the environment of the university and the …show more content…

My old school never put any importance on assignments but instead relied solely on tests as student evaluations. Thus, I became accustomed to not studying until the finals. This has become a huge problem for me since that habit is not compatible with education system I am currently studying in. The best way to stop this habit is to study the class notes regularly and master the lessons of each class before the next class. To do this, I have decided to review the notes from each classes in the library after the classes end and before going back
