When making an argument or using persuasion, images are useful in that they can be complex and communicate ideas that text alone could not. However, the simultaneous ability of images to be simplistic and natural also makes them ideal for conveying images that are modest and stark. Coca Cola Taste the feelings ad is clearly targeted at the feelings and emotions of the millennial generation. The ad opens with a view of a glass full of ice and coca cola. The view is followed by several wonderful moments of friendship, love and excitement. The ad portrays how much Coca Cola is there in everyone’s life and particularly the youth. No moment of love, fun and friendship is full without Coca Cola. Coca Cola is the companion of fun and joy. The first is the black text attached above the box. The words ““Ice with Coca Cola, Ice with friends. Friends with stories, Stories with fire. Music with Madness, madness with you. You with coca cola, coca cola with feelings… taste the feeling..” are purposefully larger than the rest in order to establish the theme of the advertisement. These are the words that relate directly to the main image of the advertisement and make an indirect suggestion to the viewers. The subtle message is, “Music, fun, food and free time, nothing is free without Coca Cola.” The second main element is the visual elements that pair with the textual elements. The images of the young people dancing, playing around, and drinking coke shows that by drinking coke you too can have fun and be During the first scene a teenager is skiing, then a group of kids are having a joyful time and later a couple is kissing in the library. The ad is just made to affect your feelings. It makes you feel a bit nostalgic and wish for the times of love and fun. During the party scene the young couple is sipping Coca Cola from the same bottle. Lastly, it reads ‘Coca Cola with feelings’ and even when you are alone Coca Cola is a great companion. The ad ends with a boy taking sips of Coca Cola. The target audience this ad is trying to connect with is that of the young consumers, the millennials. The lifestyle they are trying to promote is a lifestyle of freedom and spontaneity. The context in which this ad is representing is that of life in the youth. The younger generations are looking excitement and to never have a dull moment. Coca Cola ad argues that it is will be your best companion and can make every moment exciting.
