Coaching Philosophy & Objective My coaching philosophy will come from many experiences I’ve had over the years with different coaches. I’ve played on many different teams and was able to observe many different personalities in coaches. So I know what I like and what I do not like in a coach. I am blessed to have been around so many coaches, because after college I will want to coach for a living. The best part of me wanting to be a coach is that I’ve been in the player’s position, so I will understand more than others. A big question in today’s society is “Will a coaching philosophy improve performance or provoke a lifelong commitment to sport, or develop character, etc.?” I believe that all can be affected by a coach’s philosophy and the way that coach does things. The reason I say that is because there are so many different coaches out in the world that make the game easier, but also crappy for players. For example, Phil Jackson who is one of the greatest coaches to ever coach has a philosophy called the 11 lessons. He’s one of those coaches that improves a player’s performance. He coached the 2 greatest shooting guard to ever play, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. With Jordan, he convinced him to get his teammates better, because Jordan’s stats would always look good. As an athlete I will continue to show my coaches the up most respect. Just this year, I have learned that being a coach is a tough job and that a lot of hours are put in to it. I never realized it until I came to the gym late at night and my coach was still here getting things prepared for our next game. As I observe, I will hopefully learn some different strategies I can use one day when I’m a coach one day. It will help me in the long run because when I become a coach, I plan to be the best coach I can be with many winning
