The book The Thief of Always by Clive Barker is the story of a young boy named Harvey who gets extremely bored of the dreary month February. He then gets taken to the Holiday House where a soulless man hood is capturing kids souls to fill the void in his heart. Harvey goes on a long adventure to defeat this monster and to get his life back. Along the way Harvey meets some great friends who will help him in different ways throughout the book.Hood is a soulless monster. Harvey searches the house to try and find Hood and nothing tries to stop him in the pursuit.Harvey is trying to find Hood and is given the choice of three doors, but chooses to go up to the attic instead. “ It was hard work hauling himself up, but he knew, when he'd finished and lay panting on the attic floor, that his pursuit of Hood was almost at an end”(93). When hearing this the words “was almost at an end” it makes me think that if his pursuit is almost over nothing must have got in his way. Hood is defeated trying to cover up the void in his heart.Harvey has grasped Hood’s cloak and is playing keep away with it. Then Harvey says, “ It's all yours!" Harvey yelled, and tossed the stolen rags toward the waters . Hood lunged after them, and as he did so Harvey flung himself back toward solid ground. He heard Hood shriek behind him, and turned to see the Vampire King--the rags in his fist--pitch headfirst into the frenzied waters. “ .He would die to cover up his embarrassment of the void in his heart. Harvey may be a vampire also, but he uses it for good. This was when Hood had literally nothing to hide and was not going to give up on covering it back
