Christopher Reeve created an image for Superman, innovated stem cell and spinal cord research and illuminated the world with his activism and acting roles. He starred in many different movies and was very involved in spinal cord research. He was positive and hard working even after his accident.

The eminent person I chose is Christopher Reeve. He played the character of Superman. He was an actor, film director, producer, author, and activist. Some of the movies he starred in are Street Smart, The Remains of the Day, and Rear Window. He was the founder of the Christopher Reeve Foundation. He also co-founded the Reeve-Irvine

He was competing in an equestrian show and his horse abruptly stopped on a jump and he fell headfirst and shattered his first and second vertebrae. He was flown out via helicopter to UVMC. He woke up suffering from delirium, mouthing random things to his wife. He thought about suicide at one point and his wife told him. "I want you to know I'll be with you for the long haul no matter what." His skull was detached from his spine. He had to have a surgery and there was a 50% chance of him surviving. He traveled to Israel in 2003 to research about spinal cord injuries and people with similar problems. He was broken but never gave up. That's real motivation.

ILLUMINATE

The world was illuminated with his movies and activism on spinal cord research. He wrote a New York Times Bestseller titled Still Me. Even with being in a wheelchair he still managed to act and direct movies. Being paralyzed from the neck down didn’t stop him. He promoted stem cell and spinal cord research. In 2002 the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation was opened through the CDC. In 2003 he was in an episode of Smallville as Dr. Swann. The episode had amazing reviews. He kept going through life until he died of cardiac arrest in 2004. He left a lasting imprint on the world.

Christopher Reeve may have been injured and unable to move under his neck but he fought through it. Christopher Reeve was an actor, screenwriter, author, activist, and so much more and he accomplished
