Charles Manson has gone down in history as one of the worlds most notorious mass murderers of the twentieth century if not of all time. Now less than two weeks after his death many people are revisiting those two horrifying nights in August of 1969. Though Charles Manson is the most well known of the killers as he was the ‘ring leader’ of these crimes it is important to know that he was not the only person involved. These two nights are remembered as the “Manson Murders” but most people don’t even know the first thing about the killers or their victims.
Though there were many notable murder cases throughout the twentieth century one of the most widely remembered was committed Manson and his ‘family’. On the night of August 8th and the early

Manson announced to his followers earlier that night that this would mark the beginning of Helter Skelter. Manson chose 10050 Cielo Drive as the first target, he then sent members of his ‘family’, Charles “Tex” Watson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel and Linda Kasabian to the house with orders to “totally destroy everyone in [it], as gruesome as you can”. Around midnight the soon to be murderers arrived, cut the telephone wires, and made there way towards the house. The first victim was Stephen Parent, an eighteen-year-old boy who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Parent was stabbed and shot four times by Watson. The next to be killed was Jay Sebring, he was also shot and stabbed seven times by Watson. While Sebring was being stabbed Frykowski managed free his bound hands and get to the front door despite Atkins having stabbed him in the legs multiple times, on the porch of the house Watson joined the fight. Frykowski eventually died as a result of many injuries and one possibly being fatal in and of itself. Frykowski had been stabbed more than fifty times, shot twice and struck over the head so forcefully that the grip of the gun being used as a club was broken. Abigail Folger also escaped from her murderers for a short amount of time, she was able to run through the bedroom door out into the yard. Krenwinkel chased her, …show more content…
Manson originally entered the home and tied up both Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. Leno was woken up on his couch at gunpoint and his wife was taken from their bedroom into the living room where their heads were covered by pillow cases and their wrists were bound with lamp cords. Manson then left the house and returned to the ranch they lived on, but before that he ordered the others to kill the LaBiancas. Leno LaBianca was killed first when Watson began stabbing him, he stabbed him twelve times. Krenwinkel stabbed Leno an additional fourteen times with a carving fork that was left behind as it was stuck in his stomach. After Leno was dead Krenwinkel also forced a steak knife into the side of his neck splitting his carotid artery, and carved the word “war” into his stomach. Rosemary LaBianca attempted to defend herself by swinging a lamp that was attached to the cords that were around her wrists, sadly Watson managed to get close enough to her and stabbed her multiple times with a bayonet. Krenwinkel and Van Houten also stabbed her several time with a knife from the LaBianca’s kitchen, in total Rosemary was stabbed forty one times thought many of those stab wounds occurred after she died. After the LaBiancas were dead Krenwinkel used their blood to write “rise”, “death to pigs”, and “Helter
“Charles Manson the leader of the manson family is an American cult leader whose followers carried out several notorious murders in the late 1960s and inspired the book Helter Skelter.” His nature of his crimes were brutal slayings of actress Sharon Tate and other Hollywood residents. Charles was born on november 12, 1934 to kathleen Maddox, a 16 year old who had an alcohol addiction and was a prostitute. He had a very difficult life because of the things his mom did, she sent him to a boys school but he would run back to his mom who didn't want anything to do with him. This resulted in him living on the streets and committing petty crimes to get by. He would end up spending half of his 32 years at the time behind bars and would be considered a very dangerous prisoner. These thing would start to shape the thoughts and actions of charles and could be considered precursors to his later on occupation of being a
The husband was shot first, then the wife, “Mrs. Zazzara had a large T-shaped stab wound below her left breast, Uloth said. Upon closer examination, he added, investigators discovered the horrifying damage to her eyes as well as stab wounds to her neck, cheek, abdomen and pubic areas.” After the Zazzara case the police were now sure that these murders were committed by a disturbed serial killer. However the police were unsuccessful in tracking him down. Meanwhile Ramirez brutally attacked and killed an elderly couple named William and Lillie Doi. During the next couple of months the quantity of his victims increase rapidly and the police were facing pressure to catch this psychopathic killer. Therefor a taskforce of several law-enforcement officers was established for tracking the serial killer and also the FBI stepped in to

Such levels of violence were horrific however it appeared that no-one might touch him till 1931, wherever where was finally convicted for tax evasion instead of the four hundred murders he was presumed have committed.
Charles Manson was born on November 12, 1934 is a serial killer who spearheaded a murderous campaign with his followers, the Manson Family cult. Famous for the brutal murders of actress Sharon Tate and other Hollywood residents, Manson was never actually found guilty of committing the murders himself. However, because of the terrible crimes he forced others to commit, he made him a living figure of evil. Charles Mason first lived in Ohio with his mother, Kathleen Maddox, a 16-year-old girl who had been an alcoholic and prostitute. She married a man, William Manson, but the marriage didn’t last long and Charles was placed in a boys school.
David Alan Gore and Fred Waterfield are also known as the killing cousins, these men were two of the most brutal killers of their time. Not only did they kill their victims but they would brutally rape and torcher them before ending their lives. Throughout this paper I will discuss their biography, the crimes they committed, their criminal cases, and a theory of why the committed the crimes that eventually led to the death of one of these men.

Mass Murderers and Serial Killers are nothing new to today’s society. These vicious killers are all violent, brutal monsters and have an abnormal urge to kill. What gives people these urges to kill? What motivates them to keep killing? Do these killers get satisfaction from killing? Is there a difference between mass murderers and serial killers or are they the same. How do they choose their victims and what are some of their characteristics? These questions and many more are reasons why I was eager to write my paper on mass murderers and serial killers. However, the most interesting and sought after questions are the ones that have always been controversial. One example is; what goes on inside the mind of a killer? In this paper I will try to develop a better understanding of these driven killers and their motives.
The capture and conviction of Charles Manson took over one and a half years to complete. Within this time period many law enforcement officers and forensics professionals put in countless numbers of hours collecting, preserving and testing the physical evidence they found. In addition, the forensics practices used in this case as well as the police investigation techniques serve as a valuable lesson for those in these fields today. In this paper we will look at some of the crimes that were committed by the Manson Family, the mishandled investigation that followed and the forensic techniques used to aid (and sometimes hinder the efforts) in obtaining convictions against those involved.
A notorious murderer or serial killer is the typical next door neighbor one would hardly associate with a serious crime: an educated psychopath with little regard for life. Most of them commit murder for some misplaced psychological benefits. Their actions border on insanity as some commit theft by stealing their victims’ belongings and commiting rapes, an indication of a need for financial gain or a craving for distorted sexual desires. It is disheartening that people always associate the city of Chicago with crime, ranging from the prohibition-period gangsters to modern-day criminals; however, it is understandable because these crimes have a history going back several decades, and most received wide media coverage and documentation. Their names and pseudonyms are imbeded in the collective minds of the people. In all cases, these serial killings claim national attention and elicit heated debate, but this infamy sometimes fascinates the public to the extend that it sparks an initial interest in potential criminals. An examination into the characteristics of serial killers who were active in the Chicago area reveals they have varied motivations for their crimes but the overriding factors tend to include financial gains, sexual perversion, racial hatreds, and infamy. Chicago’s infamous reputation as a lawless and corruption riddled city stems from the motives for crimes committed by particular individuals in the Chicago area and the media attention these cases gained.
“My consuming lust was to experience their bodies. I viewed them as objects, as strangers. It is hard for me to believe a human being could have done what I've done”(Dahmer).
Four of them broke into the home and murdered pregnant actress Sharon Tate, as well as the four other people in the home. Then just the following night they set out to another destination at the Los Feliz house, another nauseating murder scene. Leno and Rosemary LaBianca have been stabbed. "DEATH TO PIGS" is scrawled in blood; on the refrigerator is the misspelled title of a Beatles song: "HEALTER SKELTER." Later, Musician Gary Hinman was found stabbed to death in his home. The phrase "POLITICAL PIGGY" is scrawled in blood on his wall. This man was feared by many and had control over peoples minds. Security systems doubled is sales; and people started taking extra care to lock their doors and turn their lights off. You could ask probably anyone who lived then and they would say they whished that that never had happened. That the name Charles Manson had never existed. Not many people would look for the good this man
A serial killer is traditionally defined as the separate killings of three or more people by an individual over a certain period of time, usually with breaks between the murders. (Angela Pilson, p. 2, 2011) This definition has been accepted by both the police and academics and therefore provides a useful frame of reference (Kevin Haggerty, p.1, 2009). The paper will seek to provide the readers with an explanation of how serial killers came to be and how they are portrayed in the media. Several serial killers have a definitive and common personality profile.
