Essay On Availability Of Education

There are different interpretations by everyone about what education means to them. According to Rousseau it is the child’s development from within, according to J.F. Herbert education is the development of good moral character. The main question to be posed is that “Is the availability of education enough in the society and if there is, can everybody gain access to it”?

As per the studies conducted by research organisations and Universities it is found there is more of demand and less of supply of education in the society which is a very critical issue and then ‘who is to be held responsible for taking care of the proper supply of education is it the government or the people only’? We cannot blame the people for everything merely because they don’t participate in developmental process, if they don’t have enough resources to sustain their lives how can they even think of getting education. This is specially the case in India. The Government gives free education to children from 6-14 years of age but after that no provision is made for the people who are poverty struck, the education system operated by the Government gives liberties to the people belonging to communities like scheduled caste, scheduled tribe and OBC’s but among them some have a very good financial position and they can take the benefit of the provision made for them which is also called ‘reservation’, but the other half keeps hanging in between because they don’t have enough funds to study hence they don’t have access to education. This kind of vicious cycle leads to social reproduction which means continuation of same state of financial position what the ancestors had. ...vailed by low tuition fees and take help of state funded education.the Main argument of schultz for human capital theory was that underinvestment in education and training prevailed, the essence of human capital is that people invest in themselves and for the sake of future gains and what one invests today he / she gets return later in future life.

The human capital theory failed because of following reasons-:

1) The recent expansion of schooling in underdeveloped and USA does not increase in productivity

2) Poverty has persisted educational and training programs designed to eliminate it have not succeeded.

3) Not much employment has also increased followed by earnings

4) This is found morally wrong by many economists as they say that then the people become slaves as first investment is done on them and then they are used as a commodity for

work.
