Some of these treatments include Early Start Therapy and the Early Start Denver model, which both aim to help children with certain disorders learn to develop skills, make eye contact, communicate, and to behave. However, a new, more unlikely method is being used by some parents. When the iPad came out, it received positive reviews from parents who said the tablet helped their autistic children develop necessary skills that kids without the disorder develop naturally. Many applications for the iPad are being created specifically for the purpose of assisting children with this disorder, such as Proloquo2Go, one of the earliest iPad apps to help this cause. Autis... ... middle of paper ... ... more prone to have Autism than females, showing a 4:1 ratio. In 1999, the population genetics increase to 1 in every 1,000 children born. The next increase in diagnoses was in the year 2008 when statistics showed that 40 to 60 out of 1,000 children had Autism. Currently in the year 2014, statistics are showing that 1 in every 68 births, a child will be diagnosed with autism. Lastly, no cure has been established for Autism because of the complexity of several genes being involved and environmental factors playing a role.
Autism is a life changing experience for a person. With all of the research and studies that are being done, the theory that vaccines are the cause of autism has not yet been determined. Autism can be caused by many different things and shouldn’t blame one individual reason. The exact causes of autism may never be discovered, but with all of the studies being done scientists should find out every little detail about this disability, including a cure. The day autism is cured will be the day every child struggling with this defect will be able to start a normal life, and that day will make history.
Although som... ... middle of paper ... ...Doctors, scientists and researchers have studied family genetics, damage to genes during prenatal development and they have also taken a closer look at disorders related to autism. Like any other major disability, a family that bears a child with autism is more likely to have a recurrence, but this has not been the majority case. Because of the lack of known cause in developing autism, treatment has been futile. There are no medications specific in the treatment of autism or it’s many disorders, although a lot of the aggressive behaviors can be controlled with the use of psychotropic and antihypertensive medications. Along with these few medications, intense therapy and consistent routines have proven to be the best method in helping an autistic child to learn how to function in a society and interact appropriately with their environment and social surroundings.
If studies continue to have good results, the quality of life for Autistics could improve exponentially. Autism is a developmental disorder that has baffled researchers for years, but research breakthroughs in the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of Autism allow for a better understanding of the condition. There are many theories regarding Autism, however, the actual cause(s) remain unknown. Autism could have several possible triggers, but any information is still in the earliest stages of research. Genetics, familial connections, having an excess of testosterone, and vaccines have all been speculated as potential causes.
According to Autismspeaks.org, autism affects 1 in 88 children. Science is advancing and making the right track to better help move more children and adults with autism to best outcome situations. Since it’s finding, there has been many types of treatment for autism. This includes early intervention, transitional services, behavioral treatment as well as a few medicines. Right now, new research for medicines that affect autism at the cellular level shows a promising lead to a new treatment for those in need.
In order for us to understand this epidemic growth. I believe this epidemic growth has cause parents and the public in general to be more aware of the rise regarding this idiopathic disease which has encouraged most citizens to participate, in researching funds towards autistic trials and experiments to help and develop a cure or at least avoid this disease. They have been able to better understand autism and the possible causes for its existence. Proper diagnosis has been a huge factor in the rise of autism, but that still doesn’t mean the cause of autism is not important. There is a reason for this rise and finding the cause is the only way scientists are going to be able to prevent this increased incidence from growing in the future.
Heasley (2014) whose article Follow-Up Lacking On Kids Flagged By Autism Screening is based on the study conducted by public health research for Autism Speaks, informed his readers that routine screenings for Autism has increased the number of children who were flagged as possibly having Autism. However, although many websites advocated the use of various vitamins and minerals to treat autism, none portended to have found a cure, or even plausible reasons for the benefits. Although research is still in the beginning stages, and many treatments are mere shots in the dark, autistics and their families continue to hope that cures and qualified treatments are not far-off. There are many available resources including group home projects (10), family support (11), and a wide-range of literature (12), much of it written by survivors themselves. Testing through research has been an effective means of learning more about the disorder that affects so many and will even more so in the future. The more that is learned about autism, the more that can be done to help treat it. The need for treatment in autism is growing and the only way it can be cured is through testing. Associations such as the Autism Society of America has done a good job of compiling research and offering it to the general public and to other researchers. Autism will forever be a problem in the world, but because of testing it can be controlled and hopefully in the future be cured.
