According to Brian Dunbar, NASA Administrator, "Aerodynamics is the way air moves around things." Furthermore, it is a branch of fluid dynamics that is concerned with the study of forces and gas flow and based on the concept of Newtonian Mechanics. Whatsoever moves through air reacts to aerodynamics. A rocket launching and a kite in the sky both react to aerodynamics. According to Avaiationbox, "The solution of an aerodynamic problem normally involves calculating for various properties of the flow such as velocity, pressure, density and temperature, as a function of space and time." In addition, it states that the aerodynamics have two classification criteria where study of flow around solid objects is one and the study of flow through passages …show more content…

The major goal of aerodynamics is also to anticipate the aerodynamic forces on an aircraft. In achieving such goal, there are four factors of aerodynamics to be considered: lift, drag, thrust and weight. The four factors of aerodynamics are lift, drag, thrust and weight. According to NASA, "Weight is the force due to a gravity. Thrust is the force generated by the engine. Whereas lift is the aerodynamic force acting perpendicular to the direction of travel of aircraft relative to air, and drag is as the aerodynamic force acting parallel to the direction of travel." Aerodynamics is a significant factor in any vehicle design, including automobiles as well as assisting while calculating wind load of large buildings and bridges. Conservation of Mass, Conservation of Momentum and Conservation of Energy are three factors that are used to solve aerodynamics problem. In addition, pressure, density, temperature and velocity are fundamental variables that are used to study aerodynamics. However, the result is based on the assumption …show more content…

(2-3) Even though there are lots of development in present days aircrafts, they still lack certain aerodynamic efficiency in bad weather. The authors tried to clarify and explain what happens at different stages when there is a change in the aerodynamics of the plane. Moreover, they stated that when there is heavy rain, there will be particular change in the lift and weight ratio which then affects the balancing forces of a plane and influence the aerodynamics of a plane overall. (3-5) The authors said, "Examining in a bad weather situation is more challenging for everyone." (Page 3) They said that the change in weather lacks them to do some of the experiments that should be made in order to compare between the aerodynamics of standard or ordinary weather condition. After doing numerous experiments, the authors said that they were able to find out the pitching moment co-efficient of a plane. In addition, they also said that, in bad weather condition, the parasite drag is affected which decreases the lift to drag ratio of a plane. (Page 5) The authors said that the lift is a force that will balance the downward weight and helps to put extra upward force whereas drag is a force that is created by the presence of air on the path that the
