India is full of inspiration for the lateral-minded. While poverty and lack of basic healthcare in and around my hometown, Mumbai, saddened me at one level, it also gave me ideas about what can be done to change the situation. And so, I grew up dreaming I would some day change healthcare and help those in need of medical attention. As the first step towards fulfilling this dream, I completed my undergrad in Physical Therapy from Sancheti College Institute of Physiotherapy, Pune. I was fascinated by simple strategies implemented by my managers and directors, which caused a ripple effect and resulted into an outcome of much greater significance. I realized this is a continual and collaborative process of overseeing all the aspects of an individual’s care, including assessment, planning, facilitation, care coordination, evaluation and advocacy. I aspire to be a professional with a holistic approach and play a key role in the processes involved in day-to-day healthcare management that requires an understanding of relationships, organizational structure, and quality performance in healthcare management. This gave me insight into where I see myself in the next few years. I wish to be acquainted with media types, internal and external marketing strategies, feedback streams and assessment measures as well as legal and ethical practices in marketing as they relate to healthcare. As a lead therapist I would like to be more pro active in the development of my staff which can be achieved by proper talent evaluation and management and gaining a broad understanding of the environment of care, performance improvement, risk assessment, and managing diverse
