Gun control is a sensitive issue in the United States in this day and age because of the recent media attention that public shootings have been receiving, and there are many different ideas on how or if the government should control guns. However, gun control is completely unnecessary for four reasons. For example, the Second Amendment provides American citizens with the right to own and operate all kinds of guns, and that eliminating firearms would not make the amount of gun-deaths decrease because gun control laws would only affect law-abiding citizens, not criminals. Another example would be the use of high capacity magazines. If the government were to ban large magazines, it would again not take them out of the hands of criminals, only Advocates of gun control would argue that the Second Amendment only grants the right to bear arms to national defense organizations in our country, such as the Army or Marines, and that guns should not be able to be privately owned. An example of this opinion is the organization called Handgun Control (HCl), which stated, “HCI concludes that individuals do not have the right to keep and bear arms for personal uses under the Second Amendment since the Second Amendment 's purpose is solely for national Over fifty percent of homicides in the United States were caused by firearms. Regarding this statistic, gun control activists will say that if guns were to be eliminated by law, the amount of murders would go down drastically because there would be less guns and thus less murders. However, though this sounds good in theory, this is not the case because by requiring by law to take away firearms, the government is only seizing guns from the law abiding citizens who would not use their guns for murderous reasons anyways. The criminals would still hold on to their guns because they are criminals and do not follow laws. For example, 512,000 people in the United States reported using methamphetamine, an illegal drug, in the last 30 days. So, by following this logic, it is safe to assume that even if guns were made illegal there would still be guns in the hands of criminals and the gun death rate would not go down, but go up because the criminals would have guns with which to kill, while law-abiding citizens would not have guns with which to defend
Gun control is one of the most controversial and one of the most talked about topics in the U.S. Some believe that if guns are taken away that there will be less violence and that the death rate may even go down. While others believe that they have a right to bare arms like it states in the constitution. One of the most talked about reasons on why gun control should be stricter is the obvious: guns are not safe. But what people don’t understand is that everytime a gun is purchased a criminal background check is done right away. What people are unaware if is that the majority of people who purchase guns have already bought one in the past. Another talked about issue is the Right to Bear Arms. The Right to Bear arms has been in the constitution for decades. The constitution is not just something you can edit and re-write everytime you see a problem with it or think its “outdated”
“The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.” The Second Amendment supports conceal and carry by stating “the right to bear arms.” That statement should be exemplified as to have a gun in public. People need to have a weapon ready for use in case of emergency. Not in a car or locked up inside a house, but in reach of the certified personnel. According to the opposing side on ProCon.org, the article Should Adults Have the Right to Carry a Concealed Handgun states: “the amendment is not unlimited and should permit weapons only to citizens who can prove a ‘justifiable need’” (“Right to Carry a Concealed Handgun” 3). The article also has a women’s opinion on Conceal and carry. She stated “women need to be able to defend their home and defend themselves if they go out. It 's just a safety issue” (“Right to Carry a Concealed Handgun” 2). In order to feel safe, and have a reliable self-defense mechanism should be a justifiable reason for Conceal and Carry
Central in the arguments against gun control is its ability to restrict any citizen of the United States the right to own guns which is protected under the constitution. Specifically, due recognition is made to its connection to the 2nd Amendment wherein it seeks to protect the individual liberties of people. This facet also applies to gun ownership regardless of the original objective and intention. “The second amendment from the Bill of Rights grants private citizens the right to bear arms. Thus, people who stand firmly against gun control insist that no legislation, technically, should have the right to take away a citizen’s guns without first repealing the amendment in question” (Groberman 1). A good approach to consider in highlighting this part comes from depriving the citizen of his basic right on the basis of specific presumption that it would be used for violence or crim...
The problem of gun control laws, their correlation with the Second Amendment, and the federal laws and policies for reduction of gun violence is widely discussed in many theoretical sources and scientific research literature. For example, Phillip J. Cook and Jens Ludwig (2000) speak about gun violence in the everyday life of America. They put forward the facts about the crime and mass massacre connected with gun ownership and inappropriate use. They consider political, social, and economic reasons for gun ownership control by analyzing the psychological and moral influences of gun violence victimization and the main trends of overcoming it. The authors also make an outline on the major measures that should be taken to reduce gun violence (Cook & Ludwig, 2000).
Greetings Doctor Benjamin S. Carson, my name is Trevor Mangru. I have recently seen your Press Conference concerning your viewpoints on gun control, as well as how it is your belief that it could have prevented the Holocaust from taking place. Recently, gun control has been presented as a controversial topic all over the United States, as day by day, illegal weapons are being found. We are presented
Gun violence in America is a public health crisis, which needs to be recognized and changed by legislatures, and the voting American. As conscious Americans, we need to vote for changes to gun laws that would improve background checks nation-wide, make firearm registration mandatory, restrict the sale of assault weapons and weapon modifications that give the shooter military-grade fire power, and invest in gun-safe technology and safe firearms storage designs. This type of technology will help prevent criminally oriented people from accessing guns, and will help prevent the accidental deaths of many children by guns. This essay will explain the reforms needed to help ensure Americans can still exercise their 2nd amendment right of owning firearms, and preventing the unnecessary deaths of many Americans at the same time.
The debate over gun control in America has constantly brought up over the years due to gunmen killing large amounts of civilizations in shootings. From Columbine to Sandy Hook or the shootings of the two reporters in West Virginia, these public shootings are occurring everywhere. Lawmakers and civilians alike are pushing for increased gun control in hopes of preventing the same tragedies. Anybody that has been affected by the shootings have been pushing Congress and state governments to force new sanctions on government. With the past three years, Congress has shot down all the laws despite the large amounts of public support. Adding more gun control isn’t going to stop the mass shootings from happening.
Throughout the many years of American history, the strongest opinion held by the constitutional scholars is that there is no mention of private gun ownership rights in the Second Amendment. What the constitution has done, however, is to guarantee a certain kind of collective right for the States to be able to maintain working militias.
Gun control is an awfully big issue in the United States today. Many people in America don’t agree with the gun control laws that they have today. Gun control laws only take guns and freedom away from law-abiding citizens. Many citizens have their own reasons for owning a gun. Why would the government want to make it harder for people to own a gun? People that own guns aren’t very likely to be attacked by criminals. Owning a handgun is one of the best ways of protection when used correctly. The second amendment states “the right to bear arms”; does this grant everyone the right to own a gun? Gun control laws have not been proven to do anything for citizens. Gun control laws just make it harder for the good guy average Joe to own a gun. Gun control laws are not a good idea, and are taking part in the loss of our freedom that was given to us.
it and, at a long term, violence will no longer exists in the world. The third argument to support gun control is
Even I have not been living long, I’ve heard of a lot of news about tragic shooting. and I have heard of Every time when shooting incident occurs, gun control arguments has been raised again and again. But they never concluded to advanced regulation of gun. If incidents related to gun in Japan, the congress would pass the law about regulation of gun immediately. I would like to see about the argument.

Some people say we shouldn’t even need gun control because our second amendment right set by our founding fathers which, “...protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home” (US Supreme Court). Our founding fathers envisioned an America where everyone had the right to protect themselves and their family. If guns were ever needed to be used, they should only be used as a last resort and/or the weapon holders sole intention to be either to protect someone's family, friend, or
Strictly regulated guns is our only option, mostly because the amount of gun-related deaths are increasing. There is no reason an ordinary person should be walking around the street with a gun, especially if they have no license or certification. The government needs to have a better system and regulation on where guns are being sold and to who they are selling them to.
Let's talk gun rights, and what gun rights are doing to our economy today. What are gun rights you ask? Well as american citizens as it says in the second amendment of the constitution,we the people have the right to keep and bear arms/guns.I believe that we should be able to keep our guns and be able to protect ourselves from the people that can cause all the shootings. If they get rid of our guns than we won't be able to protect ourselves from the bad people that will get guns for ex: from of the black market.
