Rosa is a Hispanic, 33 year old woman born on March 22, 1982. She is a kind, hospitable and generous women that loves to spend time with her family and give back to her community. Friends and family describe Rosa as an outgoing and loving person. Rosa has many parties and get-togethers at her house and hosts many gatherings throughout the year. She can be quite but enjoys being humorous. Rosa describes herself as “a shy person initially but once I warm up to someone I become open to talking. I tend to be more of a listener. I’m outgoing and like to try new things. I’m a level headed person who can be extremely stubborn. I’m also loyal and a planner”. Rosa was born in McMinnville, Oregon to Faustino and Petra Zavala. Growing up, Rosa lived in Salem with her four older siblings. When she was 5 years old, there was a drug raid at her place of residence and her father was taken away and incarcerated for the next 5 years. As a result, her siblings along with her mother moved to Dundee, Oregon to live with her grandmother Maria. Rosa spent most of her childhood living with her grandmother. “When my dad got out my mother followed him to Mexico and I started living with a female PE teacher who acted as my guardian for 6 months”. This was an insightful experience for Rosa and helped her get away from home life and be in a safe environment. When she was ready, Rosa moved in with her sister and niece and started college at 17. During this time, Rosa’s father unfortunately was deported and got his citizenship taken away. Rosa was a part of an Upward Bound program which gave her the opportunity to spend every summer and live on a college campus. Rosa states that “it was a blast! And it was nice that I got school credit from it. This pushed me to college
