Waking up to the smell of turkey being cooked and realizing it’s that time of the year once again. Thanksgiving Football! I love going to the field and play football with the same little group every year. The only thing is every year, everyone gets better and now it becomes serious. I was just a 14 yr. old boy graduating middle school and getting ready to training for High School football. So I start getting my football clothes and gear on and call up my brother to come out to start heading over to the stadium. I was so pumped and had so much adrenaline. You don’t know how much I loved football, until the big incident happened that changed it all. Once we arrived we quickly realized the same usual people were there and a few new kids that …show more content…
. . . . . . After a month of dealing with the brace and crutches I came back to the hospital for my MRI. Since it was an appointment it was not that bad with how long I had to wait but it was still little bad. “Michael Argueta” Well this is it. I go into the changing room to put on the gown they give you and once I finished getting ready I walked into the MRI room. No joke it looked very creepy in there. It was dark and had only lights coming out of the tunnel. Which was also freaky looking? The doctor told me to lay down and told me to put ear plugs on and he said I was going to be in here for a while. “How long will I be in here?” “About 40-45 Minutes” Wow might as well get comfortable. The way they had the place set up, when you lay down you see a painting of a sky in the ceiling. It was 3:30ish I was tired so I decided to fall …show more content…
All i can say is that it was the worst 6 months of my life but it was worth it because now i 'm fully recovered. I can run, work out and especially play football again. The only upsetting thing about this is i finally recovered but now i 'm a senior. I couldn 't play football during my high school career. It sucks because that 's what i really wanted to do. I wanted to be a tight end for the Revere Patriots. I wanted to go all out all 4 years, but none of that happened since i was still recovering. As an alternative i decided to put my time in music. Even though i couldn 't be the football player i always wanted to be i ended up to be the musician I never thought to be. I play the Piano,Guitar and
What event brings a crowd to a mega sized event that roars louder than a concert? How this phenomena became one of the most popular sports that involves numerous amount of physicality? To answer both questions only requires two words.
Luckily, I found other ways to make the most of not being able to go anywhere without crutches and a brace. I enrolled in two classes and spent the summer working on them, but I still felt like I could do more with my free time. I decided to co-coach two Parks and Recreation soccer teams with my father, one for my youngest brother and a second for my two other siblings. As the summer progressed my physical therapy allowed me to walk and bike so I started going to cross country preseason practices with my bike.
In my 8 or so years of playing football I’ve often heard coaches liken the job of the linemen to that of a soldier fighting in a trench, pushing, attacking, and struggling for every inch of the battlefield that is the line of scrimmage. Of course, the job of a lineman is far less dramatic and glorious than that description makes it out to be, most of our job is just keeping the defense at bay so the quarterback and the rest of the backfield has time to get a play off. Unfortunately for us offensive linemen, the defense has a much larger bag of tricks when it comes to the actual clash, they can grab, pull, or simply spin by while the O-line is relegated mostly to pushing with shoulder and hand. This can make things difficult if, for instance
High school football is very risky! There are so many ups and downs about this sport in particular. Many people would say it is dangerous for these young boys to play football though others will have a different outlook on it. Football is truly not that dangerous and it can be very helpful for some boys in various ways including, scholarships, personality and a learning experience.
On Sundays in the fall people all over the world are watching pro football. But do they know how it came to be or how the rules have gotten to be the way they are today? Most people don’t, so I am going to tell you all about it.
Athletes that play football at the college level serves the same purpose National Football League (NFL) athletes serve. At least, that is what many people think in the world we live in today. College football players play the game of football, are shown on television, and are looked up to by young people just like professional football players. The only difference between the two is NFL players get paid and college players do not. This is what leave football fans with an interesting question. Should college football players get paid like NFL players? This is the question many people want to know the answer to. Although college football players do share characteristics with professional football players, they should not be paid any money. The
What is the most popular sport in America? The most popular sport in America would be the rugged game of football. Millions of fans wait in anticipation each year for the season to begin. The truth is the game is a very dangerous sport. It’s rooted with violence and physical aggression. Players are groomed from their youth to get bigger, faster, and stronger. Football is geared toward physical domination, get your opponent before he gets you with tackling, hitting, or by any means necessary, take them out before they take you out. Bones are broken, internal organs rupture, concussions are frequent and occasionally players die. Is the game worth the price? Is a human life worth less than monetary gain or entertainment? The answer
In stadiums, parks and fields all across America, many youth participate in a journey through defeat, heartbreak, hard work, and success. Practicing for hours, rain or shine, to be able to snag that game winning touchdown in the back of the endzone. Although football comes with many risks and dangers, I strongly believe that kids and teens should be allowed to play football because it promotes leadership, teamwork, and requires significant amounts of exercise and cardiovascular activity, and other contact sports are just as dangerous.
Once again, after a successful season, Shadle Park was defeated by a Big 9 school in the first game of the regional tournament. This reoccurring event has led many to believe that the four year football program puts GSL students at a disadvantage compared to other districts. A junior high school football program would not only increase the competitiveness of the students but also have more important consequences.
Instead of wallowing in my misery, I took initiative and made the most of my situation. One should never worry about what they can’t control. Aside from the social life issues due to my injury, I had to attend therapy for my rehabilitation. When I first started putting pressure on my ankle and flexing, I was as white as a ghost, deathly afraid that I might hurt it again. But eventually, as time went on and my physical therapist provided words of encouragement, I was able to trust my body again and have faith that my ankle would allow me to do what I was able to do before the injury. Since I had never dealt with having an action or movement temporarily taken from me, it was hard to take that first step again. Imagine standing at the edge of a cliff and staring down at an abyss. What’s down there is unknown to you and so you are unsure if you should jump or not. This was the predicament I found myself in when I had to walk to my physical therapist who stood a couple of feet away. I had to reach down inside myself and find the courage and bravery that I knew was in
Football is one of the three most popular sports in the United States. The modern game of football most likely originated from England (hornetfootball.org). Walter Camp, a football coach for Yale, is known as “the Father of American Football” because he made several changes to the game of football (historyoffootball.net). The first professional football league was established in 1920, and it was made popular because of the invention of the television. Football is a mixture of science and religion which can be proved in the science of football, the religious interpretation of football, and the players’ use of their religion.
For the next couple of weeks, I had trouble moving in general, but most of it faded away. I was left with mild arthritis. I went back to work with pain in my hands, back, and legs, and started seeing a doctor a couple of months later. I started physical therapy and am currently seeing a chiropractor.
were all packed in there liked caged wildcats. I had to move as the crowd
It was a gloomy day, Hurricane Hermine blew past Greenville leaving behind scattered puddles across campus as well as lingering clouds blocking most of the sunlight. The air was cool yet there was a certain electricity present that made that day feel less dreary. It was the first home college football game, East Carolina University was going to play against Western Carolina University. The two institutions haven’t played each other since 1981 and it was sure to be an interesting match up, football season was back in full swing and this match would define the success to come for the home team.
En Angleterre, le jeu était pratiqué par tous. Et les jeunes salariés ne pouvaient pas compter sur une fortune personnelle pour s'absenter de leur travail parce qu’il n’y avait pas encore le professionnalisme dans le sport.
