Students Argue That School Is Boring
Have you ever been bored in school? The problem people have is that students are getting bored at school and ending up dropping out of school. About 30 percent of the students indicate they are bored due to lack of interaction with teachers and 75 percent report material being taught is not interesting. The causes of boredom are that there are not many teachers to help, not a lot of classes that are interesting, and the students think the classes are irreverent. The effects of boredom are that students fail there classes, they drop out of school, they distract other students so they do not learn, and they skip school because they do not want to be there. The solution to this problem is to make classes more exciting, talk about how the stuff you learn in school is important to jobs, give students breaks, do more hands on work, and have more group work in class.
The first solution to being bored at school is to make classes more exciting. To make it more interesting is teachers should not talk all the time and work quietly all the time. Teachers got to know what the students like to get them to listen. If teachers have them listening then they are not bored. Teachers have to play more games that involve education that are made up because if the students are having fun then they are not bored and they will remember what they were learning and students are having fun than the teachers will have fun too. It will work because the point of this essay is getting rid of being bored at school. Another reason it will work is because the more fun students have the better it is to teach them what you need to teach them for the class period. This solution ...

Make classes more exciting, talk about how the stuff you learn in school is important to jobs, give students breaks, and do more hands on work. If you want to stop students from being bored than you should use these solutions to help against boredom.

Boredom was everywhere in my world, and if you asked the kids, as often as I did, why they felt so bored, they always gave me the same answers: They said the work was stupid, that it made no sense, that they already knew it. They said they wanted to be doing something real, not just sitting around. They said teachers didn’t seem to know much about their subjects and clearly weren’t interested in learning more. And the kids were right: their teachers were every bit as bored as they were
13. Preventing Boredom and filling “free” time: To prevent students from becoming sidetracked and bored, I know it is important to have a continuous flow of activities. To ensure this, I plan all of my lessons with extra activities for unexpected “free” time. These efforts will help ensure that class time is used wisely for furthering education. I feel that the busier I keep my students the less likely they will have time for inappropriate behavior.
Boredom is problem that every child needs at some point to develop creative skills. In Ellen Shells article she describes how it is important for children to be bored and I agree with that statement. Children are so busy they have no time to be creative: “We load them up with lessons and organized sports overseen by adults; we monitor their every move, demanding to know how and where and with whom they spend their time”(Shell). When children are bored spontaneous play is created and it is important skill to have. Boredom also sparks creativity, which is an important life skill. I agree Ellen Shells article because in Fahrenheit 451 not one person shows an ounce of creativity throughout the story. In addition, people are so busy in Fahrenheit
Some of the personal stories that Mooney recounted made me very sad, and it was hard to believe that there were and continue to be some teachers that are just so ignorant, impatient, and unaware of what is going on with their student(s). Some great teaching strategies that can be implemented in the classroom to help students be more successful are developing a reward system for good behavior, organizing breaks between major tasks, and using auditory and visual signals. Reward systems is an excellent strategy to implement in the classroom to help students remain on task, participate in class, and behave appropriately. Breaks between major tasks help students to take mental breaks and refocus for the next big assignment. Auditory and visual signals are a great classroom strategy to help students recognize when it is time to move from one activity to the
Gatto starts his paper off by addressing the problem of boredom in public schools, something who has ever attended a public school can attest to. Because the majority of his audience already agrees with
At the start of his article, Gatto explains his career in education. He begins by saying where he has taught, and how he is a thirty-year teacher. He then goes on to explain the factor of boredom, and how it affects not only students, but also teachers. It is a common factor within most if not all people, which causes lack of concentration, and apathy. Gatto tells us how his grandfather used to tell him to never even bring up the idea of boredom, and if he was bored than it was his own fault and only he can fix his own boredom. The author then links boredom to low energy, and brings up how most of his students would often claim to be bored because they already know the subject, and find it stupid to be going over it so much. The students seem to only care about grades and not actually learning the material.
Kids are missing out on fun activities because they are busy doing homework. Sometimes students stay up way too late because they are doing homework. Then the student doesn’t get a lot of sleep which can lead them to being late the next morning for school. Also while a student is doing homework everyone else is out playing fun games. The kid then might get jelous which can lead the student to depression. The student can’t do stuff like play football with friends or watch a movie with a family member. Students don’t get to explore the world around them because of homework. Kids should be out playing sports or playing

The Scholastic Scope article Is Boredom Really That Bad? and many more articles and studies agree that humans need to be bored more. One specific expert, Mary Helen Immordino-Yang, has stated before that the human brain has two attention networks." One of those two networks is for introspection. That network helps the
We see students learning in movies as well as television shows. We also learn ourselves by experiences. The movie Dangerous Minds is movie about the educational system and an ex-Marine. In the movie LouAnne, “finds herself confronted with a classroom of tough, sullen teenagers, all from lower-class and underprivileged backgrounds, involved in gang warfare and drug pushing, flatly refusing to engage with anything”(Smith). These students are under privileged in many was that do not involve school, but they are not in the best environment to learn. The teacher finds a way to connect to the kids to be able to keep her students engaged in the curriculum that is standard for all students. Not all teachers or educational employees are able to keep their students engaged on the top at hand without technology and other resources at hand. The lack of money because of budget cuts in school districts across the country students are learning less and not getting the supplies and the course they desire. This then leads to the loss of interests in school. School is a healthy place for kids and young adults to learn and be social. But all though students are healthy in the social aspect or most of them anyways, students are not healthy in their everyday diets. Students at high school and even at elementary level have parents that struggle to get by. Students rely on many things that the school supplies such as cheap lunches and classroom
Getting people, especially kids interested in school is the one and only thing that no one has quite figured out yet. If you teach on a project based learning curriculum you take the risk of having kids fall into a lazy slump. If you teach primarily with textbooks and lectures, you run the risk of kids skipping and falling asleep. Is there truly a way of keeping kids entertained while teaching them the necessities? A study done in Lincoln, Nebraska by Laura Parn states “As teachers, we are getting so busy and burdened with the federal, state, and district requirements that we forget to think about the emotional needs of our students. It is not common that we have time to stop and think about what our students want or desire, but according to Damico and Roth (1994), it is necessary for the success and engagement of our pupils”. This proves that the challenges in the educational system need to be seen and acted upon by higher ups before public schools can even think about making a difference. That really does make things exceedingly difficult because we all know how long it takes federal higher ups to make decisions. Laura also says that teachers tend to forget about the emotional needs of students. Which is very unfortunate because when a teacher helps you with a math problem, or eve...

Teachers can help motivate students by making school fun along with the teaching of the regular lessons. Teachers could also invite various people that graduated from high-school and some that were drop-outs to tell their own personal story. This may help students see the reality of being a high-school graduate or that being a high school drop-out can seriously affect that persons' life.
The problem that most students run into is their attitude toward school, they think school is a waste of time. Almost every students don’t like school, they think do homework and go to school is not the best way to live their life. This is the attitude that will not help them in school if they want to learn. Students can fix this attitude if they want to change their way of seeing school. First what they have to do is change all of their thought such as, school is a waste of time, I can do
One of the biggest problems with education is that it is poisoned in the way people view school. Some common phrases among students are that ?school is boring; school is work.? Theses attitudes have a direct effect on the effort that students put into their studies. One will obviously work harder when they aren?t bored with the task. There is a difference between hearing and listening and if students approach school as something that they see as boring and stressful than that student will only be hearing what the professor is saying. They may show up to class but this does not mean that they are necessarily there to learn. If school were fun than students would enjoy learning and thus, would learn more since it would be an enjoyable activity. School is just like a sport or a book in that if the book is well written and enjoyable than there is more incentive to read it, just as someone will put more effort into a sport that is fun than a sport they don?t enjoy. If school were fun, than students would strive to learn more.
