Young Asian Americans are given the opportunity to better their life and fulfill their goals. I myself is one of the Asian American who migrated in this country for the same reason, to achieve my goals. I also had the opportunity to interview one of my cousin who is now proudly serving in the U.S Army. Before I had the privilege to migrate to this country, my idea of the American Dream was that people are given a lot opportunities without any hard work and as being wealthy rich. As far as my cousin’s idea of the American Dream before she migrated to America was people are automatically given and came free opportunities without any hard work. But the reality is that nobody hands us anything as soon as we get out of the airplane. Before my Grandfather petitioned my family and I to come to the U.S, I had so many assumptions about what America is all about. One of the idea I pondered as an American Dream is to able to go to school with help of the government. Given the opportunity to go to school for almost free is one of the tool I 'm thankful for. My parents dreamed of my siblings and I to finish our education and to be able to have a good career so that we could provide for our future family. Many of my dreams were to finish nursing school before I reach the age of 30. I am so thankful for what benefits this country have for people who are struggling with low income, because of that I am almost close to fulfilling my goals. In similarities, one of my cousin’s American Dream was to help her father and her sibling to get out of poverty.
