Environmental engineers construct projects that help improve and maintain the environment. However, takes more than just environmental engineers to keep the environment clean. They also inform people of different ways that the public can do to help the environment. We can learn more about environmental engineering by focusing on what exactly the job entails, the education behind it, what engineers experience in the career, impacts we have had on the environment and ways we can help solve the current problems, and technological advances that are developing.
Environmental engineers collaborate with companies, cities, and states to develop initiatives focused on improving recycling, waste management, and air pollution. Environmental engineers must possess passion for working with the environment, and have to be able to collude with others throughout the process of doing their job (collegegrad.com).

The need for environmental engineers is growing as we continue to change as a society and build more. Environmental engineers work with architects and contractors while buildings are being constructed to ensure that sites are adhering to all environmental codes. As a career it has many similarities with environmental architecture. The engineer has to be able to see the project as a finished product and as it is at any point of the construction process. Environmental architects are less worried about the codes that have to be followed so engineers go back behind the architects to make sure all of the codes are being followed. The Department of Environmental Quality has set strict guidelines on environmental conservation. Engineers have to follow these codes when helping to design the landscape of buildings. Entry level environmental engineers will have simple projects, but as they gain experience, they will get more complicated
Engineering is a large occupational field. An engineer does many things from designing, to build, to marketing. It combines science, math, and computer knowledge Education is very important whether it is college or high school. There are many competitions to help students get experience. An Imagineer builds, designs, and tests attraction for the Walt Disney Corporation. Being an Imagineer has many benefits, working for Walt Disney can be very rewarding. A Control Systems Engineering job at Walt Disney Imagineering is the career that many hope to achieve in the
Electrical engineering is a specific area of engineering that has to do with analyzing and applying what you know to electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism (Wikipedia, “Electrical”). This field of engineering has a large variety of subfields, including: electronics, digital computers, power engineering, telecommunications, control systems, and many more (Wikipedia, “Electrical”). One reason why I want to go into electrical engineering is that there are so many choices for a career path to branch to and everything comes to me so easily. I find that I enjoy the work that I do and it’s something that I am exceptionally good at. I can really see myself doing this as a lifelong career and not having to worry about getting stuck in a dead end job. The only thing I have to do to get started is decide what school I want to go to and which one will help me get to where I want to be, the best.
Engineering is an occupation that deals with the building and designing of new or improved products. To succeed in the field you have to skills in science, math and technology. You must also be able to look at problems from a creative perspective to solve them. The unique challenge this poses is what draws me to the field.
Engineering is the cornerstone for human development. Engineers are problem solvers who search for quicker, better, cheaper, and more efficient ways to solve problems. Engineers use their knowledge in mathematics and natural sciences to produce and enhance modern technology. It combines different subsets of mathematics, science, and technology. The profession applies scientific theory to design, develop, and analyze technological solutions. It is generally accepted that the four major branches of engineering are mechanical, civil, chemical, and electrical. There are numerous other divisions derived from the concentrations, combinations, or extensions of the major
The responsibilities and tasks of a electrical engineer is to work of many projects, such as computers, robots, cell phones, cards, radars, navigation, systems, wiring and lighting in buildings and other kinds of electrical systems. There are many thing that an electrical engineer has to come across to obtain some results and make something new or improve something that is dated. (Engineering Technicians, Page 58)
Industrial engineers, for example, need to have a passion for improvement. Industrial engineering is about optimizing processes and finding ways to eliminate practices that are non-value added. As an industrial engineer, you must be able to think critically and be resourceful. It takes persistence and patience to determine the best way to fix a problem. The answer to many engineering problems only comes after extensive investigation and trial and error. Industrial engineers have to continuously verify and validate many different models and simulations to improve a system. A good industrial engineer is able to use their passion for improvement to continuously question how they can make things
Electrical Engineers research, develop, design, and test electronic components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, and scientific applications (Cosgrove 749). They are concerned with devices that use small amounts of electricity that make up electronic components such as integrated circuits and microprocessors. By applying principles and techniques of electronic engineering they design, develop, and manufacture products such as computers, telephones, radios, and stereo systems (EGOE, 121). Electrical engineers touch everyone lives through the things they have designed or created. Electrical engineers have invented the lights in your house, the television, the stereo, the telephone, computers, and even your doctor’s blood pressure gauge (Stine 300).
Technology is increasing exponentially, and now I am a part of that ‘future’. When I look into my future, I see myself working toward the minimization of the human imprint in our world more specifically energy consumption. Being an Electrical Engineer, clean energy is an area that I am deeply passionate about. We are part of an ecosystem which is threatened every day by our wastes. Yes! We do use recycling, wind turbines, and hydraulics, but we need to take advantage of these to produce cleaner energy. To get closer to my passion, I will master in Mechanical Engineering so that I can have a clear understanding of the interactions of electronics and their mechanics. I believe every engineer should take some type of environmental courses to understand the direct effects of engineering in our surroundings. Therefore, one my academic goals is to study the environment so that when I create something I have thought of the ways it may impact nature. When I imagine my finish line, I see myself working alongside others who want to build a greener planet, who want to see oil-free oceans, and who can coexist with nature. I believe that engineering is the way to move towards this future and it is the reason why I decided to pursue it. In H.A.C.U, I will meet people who share similar views as me, who are willing to collaborate ideas,
Engineers are valuable assets to any company because they think analytically. Engineers may advance to become technical specialists or to supervise a staff or team of engineers and technicians. Some eventually become engineering managers or enter other managerial or sales jobs.
Many people have never heard of environmental engineers, only the general term engineer. What sets an environmental engineer and a general engineer apart is that environmental engineers build things to better the environment. “Environmental engineers may also be known as public health engineers, sanitary engineers, and waste management engineers (Environmental Engineers). All the related associations to an environmental engineer are environmentally affiliated. An organization was created in order to give credit to these individuals and this group is known as the Environmental Protection Agency (“Environmental Engineering” 71). Environmental engineers are tasked with creating ways to properly dispose of waste whether it be plastic, aluminum, gaseous, or chemical. Environmental engineers act as investigators
My decision to become an electrical engineer was not a decision I took too long ago. It is something that I decided to pursue when I entered a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) high school. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed working with computers and building circuits, and the fact that this career involved many subjects. Doing a lot of research to understand better what it meant to be an Electrical Engineer, I found out that in order to succeed in this career one had to know a little bit of everything. In other words, subjects such as science and math are essential to know if someone wants to be successful electrical engineer. An electrical engineer is someone who finds practical solutions to everyday problems that involve electricity, such as computers, cell phones, among other electrical equipments. In order to create a useful device one must know where to start and this is where science comes in. An electrical engineer must be able to use the scientific method, which means; one must form a procedure, test it out, and write a conclusion. These parts of the scientific method must be written clearly, so that others can recreate and test out a device or project. Math also plays a key role in this area of study, because one must be precise when creating a new device that others are going to use. For example, if one were to create a new type of cell phone one must know a lot of math in order to be able to progr...
When thinking about engineering research and development it is important to differentiate it from scientific research. Many people get the two confused. Many inadequacies and shortcomings of engineering research and development come from confusing science and engineering (2). Scientists make an effort to establish a systematic body of knowledge about nature. They use the idea of nature in a very inclusive sense. Scientists are interested in finding out more about nature and relating it to what they already know. Engineers are interested in applying technology to do something useful better. Engineering is the application of technology to meet human needs more effectively (2). Engineers have an interest in science. Science gives engineers new tools and ideas to discover important factors. The main difference between engineers and scientists is their attitude. Scientists are mainly trying to learn. When the...
...ng quality checks. They could be involved in legal/financial consulting regarding environmental issues. They may study and attempt to minimize the effects of large-scale problems such as acid rain, global warming, and ozone depletion. Many environmental engineers work as consultants, helping their clients comply with regulations and the cleanup of hazardous waste sites. One emphasis in environmental engineering consulting is on brownfields -- land areas that are abandoned because of contamination by hazardous substances. Environmental engineers help clients clean up the brownfields for reuse in place of premium land, minimizing the liabilities and the costs of infrastructure or building projects. Communication and teamwork is an important part of an engineer career choice. In the end am environmental engineer is an important job that greatly benefits society.
...p technology working properly; system engineers rely on their ability to think about a system comprehensively and application engineers are required to be resourceful. Although learning electrical engineering does make job-hunting much easier, engineers must pass a radical examination to receive their licenses. In order to get the licenses, I will have to complete a minimum number of years on the job.
Environmental engineering should be seen as a holistic sustainable process to engineering. Factors that include social aspects, cultural aspects and economical should not be separated from the environment (What is holistic sustainability 2010). His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum stated that: “The United Arab Emirates is not merely a financial or economic centre, nor is it only a tourist destination between East and West, but an important humanitarian centre on the international stage” (Sustainability Report 2012). To understand the purpose of environmental engineering one must look at what sustainability within engineering entails. The Oxford English Dictionary for students defines sustainability as: “...not making excessive use of natural resources” (Oxford Dictionary 2006). When looking at the concept of environmental engineering one can see that a symbiotic relationship between nature and man is necessary in order to maintain the usage of natural resources. Gilbertson stated that environmental engineering should not only protect but improve global and local factors. These factors do not only include the human population but environmental quality as well (W.E Gilbertson 1973).
