Surveying
The commonwealth of Massachusetts has many different requirements for people who want to become registered land surveyors. Applicants for registration as a Land Surveyor require five references; three of these five must be from registered Land Surveyors who have seen the work of the applicant. The present supervisor should also be a reference. These references should cover the applicant’s entire surveying career.
Acceptable education for registration as a Land Surveyor with four years of experience is a degree of Bachelor of Science in Surveying or Engineering, including courses in land surveying, from an institution authorized by the Massachusetts Legislature or a degree of Bachelor of Science in Surveying or Engineering accredited by ABET (American Board of Engineering and Technology) including approved courses in land surveying. Education obtained outside of the United States may qualify if a complete description of the curriculum is presented and the Board or an agency qualified to evaluate foreign curricula finds it to be equivalent. Acceptable education for registration as a Land Surveyor with six years of experience is a degree of Bachelor of Science or Associate degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering Technology, including at least 12 credit hours in land surveying, or two years of formal education above high school level with at least 60 semester credit hours passed, 12 of which must be in land surveying courses approved by the Board.
Acceptable educations for applicants who wish to be a Surveyor-in-Training are to pass the Fundamentals Examination as well as have a Bachelor of Science Degree. An applicant having a degree in something other than surveying must have attained the required experience before receiving certification. An applicant for Surveyor-in-Training certification having an Associates Degree or 60 semester hours of acceptable education including courses in surveying approved by the Board may be certified after passing the Fundamentals Examination and attaining the required experience. Acceptable professional land surveying experience is full-time activity. Part-time land surveying work performed during full-time study at an educational institution is considered part of the educational program and is not acceptable professional experience. A graduate of four-year engineering institution taken on a daytime program, or five years for a co-operative program must obtain the necessary experience in engineering work acceptable to the Board after graduation.
The State of Missouri requires professionals to obtain a license before providing services to the public, in many careers. Misconceptions hold that issuance of licenses is just something that is needed in order to charge money for services. Licenses are issued however, because the public puts their trust in professionals who are more knowledgeable than they are. Many people today want to avoid the hassles and risks associated with the transfer of land, so they put their trust in licensed real estate professionals. The Missouri Broker Disclosure Form (MBDF) is a document used by the Missouri State Real Estate Commission that attempts to provide the public, knowledgeable information, about agency relationships (the fiduciary relationship between buyers/sellers and agents). It also holds real estate agents and brokers somewhat accountable to the public in representing them in their best interest; all real estate agents are required to present and explain this form to buyers and sellers. It seems in today’s society that greed, corruption, and self-interest has spread like an infectious disease and we live in a world where it is risky to put our trust in other people. The government tries to respond to that corruption by putting into place more regulations and laws to keep people honest. In summary, the Missouri Broker Disclosure Form is a document designed to help the public make an informed choice about the agency type, of the people that they are putting trust in, and the fiduciary commitments due to them.
To become a Health Certified Health specialist it takes an individual who is passionate about giving back to their community and making it a healthier and safer environment; it requires a competent individual that is academically trained to assess and determine what is the best for the environment and for the public. This case study is about Abdul Chidiac, a 51 year old male, married with 4 children. He had a medical history of hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia and cirrhosis with two admissions in the last six months. He is a smoker and drinks beer, 5-6 bottles per day. As Carithers & McClain (2010) explained the patient’s medical history is another indicator of the risk for cirrhosis; the progression to cirrhosis is adaptable and may take time over weeks or many years. Cirrhosis is a liver disease characterized by permanent scarring of the liver that interferes with its normal functions including alcoholism. Most people who drink large amounts of alcohol cause harm to the liver in some way (Heidelbaugh & Bruderly, 2006). The cause of cirrhosis is not yet known, but the connection between cirrhosis and excessive alcohol ingestion is established (Jenkins & Johnson, 2010). Common causes of cirrhosis include: alcohol abuse, hepatitis B infection, hepatitis C infection and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (Schuppan & Afdhal, 2008).

The chosen program should have 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours of coursework (“Education Requirements”, 2015). All counselors in training must complete 2000 hours of supervised practice that should be spread out over a 2 year period. After requirements are met an application must be submitted to the state and then an exam will be taken to receive a license in the state of Colorado which is valid for a 5 year period. In addition the state of Colorado requires continuing education throughout the career of a counselor. To obtain an LMFT license in Colorado the requirements are nearly the same as the above with the exception that potential counselors must take human development, marital and family studies, and marital and family therapy during their studies. The Colorado state exam for an LMFT license is a different exam than an LPC license. At this time I plan to get both my LPC and LMFT license for the state of Colorado. I also believe it would be useful to become an approved supervisor so I too can help students fulfill their needed supervisory hours; when I am qualified to do so. People who continue to drink alcohol against the recommendation of their doctor face a high risk of developing serious liver damage that can eventually cause death. Each liver disease is different and can affect each person’s body in different ways. Another affect of alcohol abuse on the liver is Cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is when the liver begins to scare and is no longer able to perform its regular duties. Since the liver has no nerves that identify pain in it, the liver does not feel pain until it is affecting a different part of the body that does. Cirrhosis often has no signs or symptoms until the damage to the liver is extensive and in most cases beyond repair.
