of Unit 2 I will base my coursework on Sonora Foods Ltd.
Sonora Foods Ltd.
Describe how Sonora Foods Ltd is organised
Sonora Foods produce the following products: Tortillas, Nacho Bites,
Taco’s, Burritos, Wraps and Seasoning Blends. Sonora Foods is divided
into four teams. These are: Senior Management Team, Operations Team,
Finance Team, Hygiene Team and the Technical Team. All these teams
have a managers and team leaders to keep each department running
smoothly.
The operations staff at Sonora Food are organised to work with
different shifts. These are: day shift, 40 hours a week (7am-4pm).
Afternoon shift, 35 hours a week (4pm-midnight) and night shift, 32.5
hours a week (midnight-7am). These are the shifts and working hours
for the operatives. The wage is £5.35 during the day and rises to £10
for staff working on the night shift. This is how the operatives are
organised, this has been successful for Sonora as all the operatives
are happy with the arrangements allocated to their jobs. Operatives
are the employees who are based on the production floor to produce the
goods and keep the production line up and running smoothly throughout
the day. All the four teams have an organisational chart. There are
two types of organisational charts which businesses use. They’re flat
structure and tall structure. Tall structures have lots of layers,
which represent the difference in jobs and how much work is needed to
do each one. The jobs at the top end of the chart will be managers and
directors, these jobs will pay more than the jobs lower down the
chart. Flat structures have fewer layers and are more used in smaller
businesses. These have the higher staff at the top then a larger
number of staff who are working with different jobs, but these jobs
are at the same level of priority and rate of pay.
Thirty-eight years have passed and the Vietnam War is still a controversial topic. While some Americans believe that Indochina was of no strategic value to the United States, others argue that civilian leaders have undermined the war effort. My paper will help analyze the different viewpoints for U.S. involvement in Vietnam and the overall assessment of each. Almost all the sources utilized came to the consensus that the chief purpose for U.S. intervention was to stop Communism from spreading. Nevertheless, while some believed that the developed country had reason to fear the “Iron Curtain,” which fell upon Asia in 1954 with the armistice in Korea and the Geneva Accords, others did not see this as an act of upholding freedom and democracy. My thesis concludes that apart from the containment argument, what America sought by intervening in Vietnam was the opportunity to demonstrate its credibility as a world power.
Many fantasy plots can often share similarities, whether it is mystical creatures or the never ending fight between good and evil. Two books that share a mutual thought are Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R.Tolkien. Though at first glance the stories seem to have no similarities; with Frankenstein being about a young man taking experimental science too far, and The Lord of the Rings following the journey of fantastical folk in their quest to destroy an all-powerful ring. But if the characters in these plots are looked at carefully, likeliness can be found between Victor Frankenstein and the creature Gollum. The two characters Victor Frankenstein and Gollum are very similar in many respects; in their desire to have something which is not theirs to take, being blind in ignorance, and finally are diminished by the one thing they sacrificed everything for. “Ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven” (William Shakespeare).
One of the characteristics of a phobia is a feeling that is greater than the fear of a situation or object with an exaggeration of the danger associated with the said situation or even object. This persistent fear often leads to an anxiety disorder that leads an individual to develop mechanisms that ensure one avoids the object or situation that triggers the occurrence of the phobia. Phobias can have highly debilitating effects on an individual including the development of depression, isolation, substance abuse, and even suicide. Many people take phobia for granted however, it is clear that it has the potential to impair the quality of life for both the affected and the people around them. The fact that many of the phobias are manageable using
It was a freezing morning on January 28, 1986. Many spectators were waiting anxiously to witness the liftoff of the Challenger space shuttle’s 25th mission. These spectators included thousands of students because Christa McAuliffe was to be the first teacher in space. Tragically, only 73 seconds after liftoff, the Challenger split apart resulting in the death of all 7 members on board. There is evidence that NASA was aware of issues that could have potentially complicated the scheduled liftoff, but NASA fatally decided to proceed with the mission. Because of NASA’s negligence and the loss of 7 lives, the Challenger mission of January 1986 was one of the greatest failures of NASA.
On January 28, 1968 the space shuttle Challenger was deployed from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. One minute and thirteen seconds after liftoff the spaceship ignited in mid air and all seven crew members were killed. The cause of the destruction of the challenger was a certain part of rubber that relieves pressure on the side of the actual rocket booster called an O-ring. When a space shuttle as used as the Challenger is about to be used for another mission there should be an even more careful with checking everything before liftoff. The Challenger could have been avoided and there was way too much evidence that shows NASA had some kind of knowledge about the consequences.
Simple phobias include irrational fears of things like animals such as dogs, cats, or the most common snakes. Specific phobias are centered around specific situations such as small spaces, claustrophobia, or heights, acrophobia. Social phobias are irrational fears of interactions with other people. For example, a person might have a social phobia of public speaking or fear of embarrassment. Another form of social phobia is agoraphobia which restraints a person from being in unfamiliar, open or closed spaces, typically resulting in panic attacks. These different types of phobias have two things in common; they are irrational, and they are treated in similar
miles of an international border or coastline, but to this day the regulation of the maquiladora industry has changed a tremendous amount. In the year 2000, 57% of the population lived in the capital region, in Mexico City. During the 1990s, the rise of the maquiladoras was significantly from 17% to 18%. The increase in numbers was not too high considering the amount of employment the maquiladoras provided at that specific time from Tijuana to our border city, Juarez. Border employment has had a major growth due to the fact that this industry attracts workers from rural areas or places near the border region. Creating and managing effective teams in today’s work environment is much different than it was just a short time ago. With each generation of American workers come new ideas, rules, and methodologies that must be considered when developing an effective team. Some of the newer ideas may have been foreign to managers even ten years ago. An example of this is that many companies today are becoming more socially responsible. A recent article in Incentive states, “Social responsibility, it seems, is the new signing bonus” (Flanagan, p4, 2006). Rarely are managers given a perfect set of employees, a perfect environment, or a team without conflict in order to develop an effective team. These issues make it more important than ever to be able to effectively manage these teams. The simulation for Luxurion was an excellent example of managing a team well, even when the team is not put together perfectly. This paper will examine what team member were chosen, why these choices were made, issues that were worked through during the simulation and the final outcome after completing the simulation.
On January 28, 1986 the Space Shuttle Challenger destined for space came to a crashing halt after just 73 seconds into liftoff. What would the first thought of any normal person be? Why? What went wrong? All seven crew members aboard The Challenger perished. While the physical cause of the Challenger is now known as the failure of mechanics, the Report of the Presidential Commission on the Space Shuttle Challenger Accident revealed that the primary cause of the disaster was “flaws in the decision making process” (Hughes, 66).
... bad solid rocket booster seal. The events and circumstances that led contributed to the Challenger disaster mostly have to do with human error. If a company had been chosen to build the booster based on the actual merits of their design instead of cost then it is possible that the booster would never have caused the shuttle to fall apart. If manager had made decisions based on the safety information that was available to them or if a lone engineer had chosen to go outside the organization and speak about the shuttle’s safety issues then the shuttle launch would have been delayed. Moreover Administrators should have asked the pertinent “can NASA actually launch 12 or 24 shuttles per year with the current resources?” then the flight rate would have stayed low until NASA was ready to grow. In the end people caused the Challenger disaster and blamed it on a booster.
Sam’s Fresh and Fit Food Truck needs a strong management team. As the founder of this business and knowing I am going to run this business I have to be honest. I do lack in some areas of knowledge, such as financing and marketing. I am still in the process of learning and developing my skills. Being the CEO is big task and job position to fill, but if I can cover these knowledge gaps with a strong team it will help fill them in and aid in the business running smoothly. I will not be able to run this food truck all by myself, especially during rush hour, when it comes to making and serving the products. This is why I do need some skilled employees. I do have the knowledge and passion for food, allergies, cooking, diets, and know a lot about
The diverse seven-member crew of the Challenger made it very media friendly because a civilian was going into space. The crewmembers were Commander Francis Scobee, Michael Smith, Ellison Onizuka, Ronald McNair, Judith Resnik, Gregory Jarvis, and Christa McAuliffe. NASA wanted to try a new radical approach by trying to rekindle the excitement that once had surrounded the space program. NASA thought that if an everyday American citizen were involved, they could communicate the excitement of space travel to the American public. President Ronald Reagan made the choice that the first ordinary American to travel into space would be a teacher. NASA and President Reagan thought that one of America’s teachers would be the best candidate for the trip because teachers have the ability to communicate to people and get them interested and excited about almost anything.
Fast food. Most of us eat fast food and most of us like certain places. Most like McDonalds others like Burger King, but do we really think about the companies other than for some food? After reading the book Chew On This it showed the true companies and what they want. The truth about fast food industries is they only care about making money and nothing else.

Social media avenues are a new, upcoming, and popular way to advertise for businesses and for people to connect to each other. Alexis Ohanian once said that "Being effective at social media, whether for business or personal use, means capturing people who have short attention spans. They 're only a click away from a picture of a funny cat, so you have to make your thing more compelling than that cat. And that can be a high bar." (Ohanian) Powerful usage of social media can have a big impact.
