...or hiring the next CEO off LinkedIn, social media impacts many corporations as a whole. It is ultimately the employer's decision if an employee gets hired or not. Although, social media still seems to have an effect on recruiting employees. These sites can offer real insight about the employee and validate if the employer is making the right selection choice. The popularity, advantages, disadvantages, legality and the future all of social networking all influence many companies currently and show why it is valuable to hire employees through using it. The Khmer Rouge was a murderous group, and their plan was to change the Cambodian society. On April 17 of 1975, the group marched into Phnom Penh, and forced all residents to evacuate into the country side. The members of the Khmer Rouge were mostly uneducated boys who had no idea what they were doing. Pol Pot, the leader of the Khmer Rouge, sent these people
The Khmer Rouge years was a period of time that devastated all of the small country Cambodia, a story that was so well told by Loung Ung about the Pol Pot regime. The Khmer Rouge years was from 1975 to 1979 (http://www.cambodiatribunal.org). The Khmer Rouge, otherwise known as Communist Party of Kampuchea (CPK), conquered Cambodia for four years. The Khmer Rouge forced people to work in the fields including children. To make matters worse, the people that were forced to work were also malnourished and were living in grim conditions (http://www.wcl.american.edu).
Pol Pot, the leader of the Cambodian Genocide, sought to impose his view of a perfect communist society throughout Cambodia, with everyone completely equal in economic status, class, and job. Pol Pot believed that the only way to create this society was to force everyone in the country to be rural peasants. To do this, he considered everyone who was not a rural peasant working in the fields to be an enemy to him and to the well-being of the country. The Khmer Rouge, the organization headed by Pol Pot, killed or kicked out all of the foreigners and many other types of people the Khmer Rouge believed were their enemies. Millions of people were put in labor camps and were forced to work for hours upon hours with insufficient food and water, and little healthcare.
Three days, told to walk for three days to evade the bombs and then they could return home, but the bombs never came, the walk continued, and what waited for them was a true horror. Leading up to the communist takeover, lasting from 1975-1979, was the formation of the Khmer Rouge in the 1950s. The Khmer Rouge was an assemblage of angry peasant farmers seeking salvation in communism. In the 1960s, Pol Pot became head of the Khmer Rouge and organized the overthrowal of Cambodia’s government, headed by Lon Nol. I think to fully understand the situation and how it could get to the point that it did one must see what the Khmer Rouge wanted. They wanted to wipe the minds of the people inhabiting the areas they were taking. They wanted to change what those people believed. They wanted to change the way those people thought. The started to call it year zero. They wanted to start from nothing and build an empire essentially. They wanted to wipe all other cultures out and be the only thing anyone believed. They wanted to do away with all individuality. In America that would be taking our basic rights.
