During his young childhood, Marshall moved back and forth between his mothers home town of St. Joseph, MO and the Detroit area, where he was often beat up by bullies because he was always the new kid. Because of his frequent moving, Marshall didn’t make many friends. His only true companion was his uncle, Ronnie, who was the same age as Marshall. The two, big fans of rap music, which was quickly becoming popular, began rapping together. At age 12, Marshall was forced to grow up quickly when his uncle, who was a very troubled boy, committed suicide.
Eminem was born Marshall Mathers III on October 17, 1972. His home life was extremely troubled. He was raised by his mother who was only 15yrs old when she gave birth to him. His father left when he was only six months; he never returned and did not keep in contact. His mother did not hold a steady job, which in turn caused them to move often.

After failing the ninth grade for the third time, he finally gave up and dropped out of school. There was bound to be some confrontations and obstacles in his path. One of his worst nemeses of high school was a black guy named D’Anglio Bailey, although no one called him that. One day he came into the bathroom when Eminem was urinating and D’ Anglio beat the crap out of him, Em urinated all over himself.

He was arrested in Peoria, Illinois for robbing a grocery store and was then sent to the Indiana Boys School in Plainfield, Indiana, where he ran away another eighteen times before he was caught and sent to the National Training School for Boys in Washington D.C. Manson never had a place to call "home" or a real family. He spent his childhood being sent from one place to another, and trouble always seemed to follow him. His mother's negligence left Manson without a home and without much of a future. Manson turned to crime to support himself, and he soon became very good at it. When just a child, he became a criminal and spent his last years of childhood in a correctional facility.
When Bob was born, he was taking away at the age of five by his father to stay with his nephew in Kingston and go to school but unfortunately his nephew gave Bob to an elderly couple who never put him in school. When Bob mother became aware of this, she later went to Kingston and returned her son to live with her in Nine Miles where he was born. Bob and his mother later moved to Trench Town, one of the poorest places in Kingston Jamaica. Bob was bullied and beaten by Trench Town’s rude boys almost all the time. Like almost every kid, Bob learned to defend himself with his street-fighting skills and was given the name Tuff Gong.

Growing up, Eminem frequently moved between Missouri and Michigan. As a teenager he finally settled in Michigan which is where he discovered rapping. Eminem began battle rapping with a friend from high school.
He was constantly staying with his relatives while his mom was jobless or too into her pill habits to take care of him. When Eminem was twelve, his mother finally settled down in Detroit, Michigan. As a teenager, Eminem mainly found himself on streets by his high school, Osburne High, listening to rap music by LL Cool J and Run DMC.
