According to Zastrow & Kirst-Ashman (2016), “Young adulthood includes the ages from 18 to 30 and is the time following the achievement of full physical growth when people are establishing themselves in the adult world” (p. 471). Although I do feel that the authors did a good job in naming this classification I feel that I would change it to ‘Emerging Adulthood”. I also feel that I would stick with the middle adulthood classification as it does a great job defining the physical changes as well as the intellectual changes within a person. When growing up between the ages of 18 to 30 I really did not know what I wanted to do with my life. My definition of ‘Emerging Adulthood” would be individuals between the ages of 18 to 30 who are finding themselves in society to lay down their roots and settle into a profession. Those individuals that I consider emerging adults are working towards the ‘ultimate’ job and having a family so they are able to settle down. In this time in their lives individuals are the healthies that we will be, also taking advantage in sports and other activities to keep up their healthy lifestyle. Biologically many individuals have an active sexual life during their 20s and 30s, and as we know from the readings this week, young adults (emerging adults) are in their prime in regards to their physical development (Zastrow & Kirst-Ashman, 2016, p. 471). Psychologically, a person will use the experiences that s/he learned from his/her parents while growing up. I feel that this is never a lost trait as I still will use some of these experiences with my own children. I feel that every person develops socially in their environment dependent on where they live and what is expected of them in their
