Elvis Presley: The Superstar
Google defines superstar as one who has or had a successful career, either has a performer or an athlete (Google, 2016). When narrowed down to the category of a performer, there is only one musician who should be recognized more than any other artists. His hard work and impact on society led others to portraying him as, “The King of Rock and Roll” (Geller, 2007). This performer is none other than Elvis Aaron Presley, who meets high expectations and standards of becoming a Superstar. As a matter of fact, according to the article, “Who Really Invented Rock N Roll,” from one of the top newspaper companies known as New York Suns, Presley never considered himself the inventor of Rock N Roll (Newfield, 2004). However, he did play a huge role in its revolutionization (Newfield, 2004). His energetic dance moves caught the attention of countless fans. Further adding to his development of Rock N Roll. Elvis and his crew would spend innumerable nights preparing for his shows only getting a few hours of sleep (Earle, 2004). In fact, two years into Elvis's Marriage, he released the biggest hit song of 1969 known as “Suspicious Minds” (Patrick, 2016). In this song he described to listeners about the struggles in marriage life, including his disappointments he failed to do as a husband. Each song he wrote was a form of inspiration or relation towards his fans and according to the facts, there was a survey held at Glendale Community College of the topic of Elvis Presley, in which 83% of the students stated that “Suspicious Minds” was a song they could relate to through their personal tough times of their relationship (Glendale Community College Musicians, Personal Interviews. 5 Oct. 2016). Presley musical influence did not halt there, as he also released “Walk A Mile In My Shoes”, in 1970. His motive behind this song was to influence the public to understand one another, and to walk a mile in each other's shoes, before accusing, criticizing or judging any individual (South, 1970). As there are innumerable reasons why Elvis Aaron Presley should be still considered a Superstar, the reason that title was taken away from him was due to his bad health
