Back in the 1400s, everyday people didn’t know how to read or write and everything revolved around religion and the Bible at the time. The church was in charge and had the knowledge about the Bible, they could read and understand it. So the people would always ask them about things they needed to know, like how they could get their deceased family members to Heaven. The pope and churchmen took advantage of the people’s illiteracy of the Latin language and told them that their loved ones were in purgatory due to their sins and in order for them to cross over to Heaven, therefore, they had to pay money to the church. He had a son finally from the sixth wife. His name was Edward VI; he was only nine years old when his father, King Henry, passed away. Even though he was really young he became heir of the throne of England. He didn’t know anything about ruling so the congress and people that helped the king basically controlled everything. Edward VI died at the age of twelve and then King Henrys daughter, Mary Tudor, reigned over the kingdom for five years and then passed away. After Mary’s death, her sister Elizabeth I became queen this led to the Elizabethan Compromise. The Elizabethan compromise was the religious settlement of England. It was a response to the religious divisions in England during the reign of Henry VIII. It was this act or compromise that gave Elizabeth ultimate control over the church of England. She wanted a church that would appeal to both Catholics and Protestants. The form of worship they had also suited the Queen’s conservative religion. While England was going through hell and trouble, Italy was prospering and nothing bad was happening there. Everyone stayed catholic and they had the intelligent people from the renaissance like Leonardo De Vinci. They were wealthy because of the paintings the artist of the renaissance had painted.
