The Australian experience in developing vital strategy and policy to protect the women from discrimination in the workplace is very significant and unique because the Australian workplace is unique and multicultural. Thus, this report will investigate the Australian experience in eliminating the discrimination against women in the workplace. Moreover, this report will discuss the status quo of the Australian strategy and policy to protect the women rights in the workplace in Australia. This report will provide recommendations for improving the women rights in the workplace and eliminating the discrimination against women in the workplace in Australia.

The developments of the different types of the technology has augmented the number of the global firms and multicultural companies in the whole world. The global workplace has become “more diverse” and has employees with many cultures, beliefs and backgrounds than any time before. The globalization has revolutionized the global workplace and created new challenges to understand the similarities and differences in the workplace. Despite legislation for equal opportunities, sexism is still evident in the workplace. Women have made great advancements in the workforce and have become an integral part of the labor market. They have greater access to higher education and as a result, greater access to traditionally male dominated professions such as law. While statistics show that women are equal to men in terms of their numbers in the law profession, it is clear however, that they have not yet achieved equality in all other areas of their employment. Discrimination in the form of gender, sex and sexual harassment continues to be a problem in today’s society.
To resolve the gender wage gap, the government should consult with employers in federally-regulated sectors to apply a gender-based analysis to the design, development, implementation and evaluation of the policy. The law should clearly outline the systematic discrimination that women face in the workforce. This policy would entail employers to determine whether gender-based disparities exists and reevaluate the current pay system from an equity perspective to ensure and promote pay transparency. The law of ensuring pay equity should first be applied to the public sector, including federal public servants, employees of Crown cooperation and federally regulated companies. After this law has been found to be effective, it is also recommended that private corporations follow the same suit and comply with the pay equity

It has been proven that even by creating equal employment laws, one cannot ensure that woman will be treated fairly when being employed, especially in business. This equal treatment will not occur until enough men in power give the qualified women a chance to hold these positions. The business world will realize that women are capable of working alongside and over men in the business world.
Laura Bassett, a reporter from the Huffington Post, explains that in today’s society women are paid 77 cents for every dollar that a man earns, resulting in women being paid an average of $37,800 a year compared to men who are paid an average of $49,400 per year in 2012 (Women Still Earned 77 Cents On Men's Dollar In 2012: Report). Also, when a man and a woman apply for the same job, the man will almost always be chosen. This has resulted in the amount of full-time working males increasing by 1 million within a years time, and the number for full-time working women remained nearly the same. To this day, females are not treated equally to males even though almost a century has gone by from 1920 when women gained their deserved suffrage rights and other rights of equivalent importance. Both men and women are standing up to spread the awareness of the meager changes to women’s rights throughout the years. One way to raise awareness is to write a book, and many books have been made about the lack of equality rights for women. In the novel The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, the main character Lily witnesses several equality rights between men and woman in the way that females are treated by males, which has become a major social issue in today’s society.
