Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, also known as JROTC, is a government program supported by the United States Armed Forces in high schools and in some middle schools. JROTC makes the students of high school and middle school understand the advantages of citizenship. In addition, it prepares high school understudies for responsible leadership roles. The mission of JROTC is “To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens”. A few of the outcomes are capable cadets who are certain of themselves, can think all alone, and can express their thoughts and sentiments unmistakably and briefly. JROTC can prepare students for post-high school success.
The setting in both Lord of the Flies and I Only Came to Use the Phone contributes to the dehumanization of the characters in each of the readings. The settings are both isolated, which is the cause of all the chaos that takes place because when you take a human being out of the comfort of society, they go back to their natural animalistic tendencies in order to survive. College has always been a process that introduces students to academic challenges that are not present during high school. So when my professor assigned Gerald Graff's essay, "Hidden Intellectualism", I thought this was his thesis. “Missing the opportunity to tap into such street smarts and channel them into good academic work." (Graff 142) I thought that this was his thesis because it explains the main idea of the essay but I assumed its purpose because of where it’s placed. I am so used to reading an essay in high school where the thesis is located right in the first paragraph. So naturally that is where I look for it. However, with more reading I knew that the following is the thesis, not only because it discusses the main topic, but because it clearly shows what the author was making his argument about. "But [students] would be more prone to take on intellectual identities if we encouraged them to do so at first on subjects that interest them rather than the ones that interest us". (Graff 199) Your thesis is one of the major aspects of a good college paper because it shows exactly what the main claim of the entire paper is going to be about. Three main points to take out of a thesis is, is it your main claim or big idea that directly answers a question about the assignment of the paper. Is it written with the reader in mind with a road map they could follow along easily and lastly when you do go back through revising and reflecting does it makes your thesis clearer.
The method of providing evidence was reading literature, which was 15 years of age or less. The documents he used for his research were case studies, trails, longitudinal studies, and recapitulation. From studying these documents he separated the data he collected into two different classes. These classes were broken up into institutional settings and community contexts.

Thematic analysis is espoused to be the foundational approach to qualitative analysis and methods (Saunders et al., 2016 as stated in Braun and Clarke, 2006: 78) and it is a useful method used to identify and analyse the order and patterns of qualitative data (Attride-Stirling, 2001). Qualitative research method depicts the correlation that exists between data and events, creating the pictorial representation of what one thinks a given data says (Saunders et al., 2016). They also opined that, qualitative data analysis is cogent, interactive and iterative. Also, Joana and Jill (2011) and Saunders et al (2016) postulate that, qualitative research brings meanings from words and images as opposed to numbers. However, despite its robustness and rigour of its application, it is skewed more to the interpretivist ideologies since researchers draw conclusion from participants and the hypothesis being forecasted (Joana and Jill, 2011; Saunders et al., 2016).

In the excerpt “A Modest Proposal” Jonathan Swift makes a proposition to help the people of Britain and Ireland. The basis of the proposal was that the lower class people would sell their children, usually and preferably at the age of one. They would sell them to the people in the wealthy higher classes. You may ask why they would do such a thing; sell their beloved kid for money? That in itself is the proposal, for the lower classes to sell their kids to the wealthier people to eat of course. The idea is that the poor people would not have the money to raise the child and at the time there was a problem with overcrowding and famine occurring. So why not kill two birds with one stone and solve both those problems with one simple solution.
In order to understand how to compile evidence for criminal cases, we must understand the most effective types of evidence. This topic is interesting because there are ample amounts of cases where defendants have gotten off because of the lack of forensic evidence. If we believe forensic evidence is so important and it affects our decisions, then maybe we need to be educated on the reality of forensic evidence. If we can be educated, then we may have a more successful justice system. If we have a more successful justice system than the public could gain more confidence that justice will be served. In order to do this, we must find what type of evidence is most effective, this can be done by examining different types of evidence.
This episode of The First 48 documents a case in Atlanta, Georgia where two innocent, young women were brutally murdered by Ardentric Johnson, a 36 year old drug addict whom was living in the abandoned house on Madrona Street where he committed these savage murders. Ardentric Johnson had previous convictions for carrying a concealed weapon, theft, false imprisonment, and battery. In Criminal Justice and English there are concepts like Rehabilitation,Evidence, Pathos, and Logos that help solve bloody murders, just like the brutal case we saw in The First 48: The House on Madrona Street.

3. List three main points the author makes to back up the thesis or central
“Language and Literature from a Pueblo Indian Perspective” an essay written by Leslie Marmon Silko brings to life the diversified facets of the Pueblo Indian culture, sharing with readers the infrastructure of Puebloan dialect and folklore. Likewise, Amy Tan’s essay “Mother Tongue” details a series of prominent reflections of the nurturing voice responsible for constructing the author’s perceptions of the world. Both of these essays share a corresponding theme of the influence one’s culture can have on can have on individual styles of communication. The implication of the nonfiction elements plot and setting throughout the piece allows the author to adequately reinforce the theme of each piece. Each essay embodies commonalities, as well as, differences in the nonfiction elements used to depict the common theme.
Documentary Evidence: Any proof that is in writing such as wills, contracts etc. It can also include media on which such proofs can be stored such as films, recordings, emails, etc.
