Social Media is defined as forms of electronic communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content. Social media sites are the most popular source to access emergency information all over the world. Although cyberbullying, and privacy and fraud problems persist and are actively worked on; Social Media has become a beneficial addition to our daily lives by allowing us to reconnect, distribute content, provide emergency alerts, reduce communication barriers, allow people to share experiences, and more. The path social media is heading in points to a very interconnected and immersive social experience.
Reducing communication barriers through social media has allowed people to share their thoughts and perception to a mass amount of people, or lets someone speak their mind. People are no longer separated by distance, and can communicate across the planet in seconds.

From the second we wake up we look at our phone and check our favorite social network to check if there is anything new. Watching TV and checking the news to email your boss or watching a viral video on YouTube many different aspect of social media have become part of our day to day routine. Nothing in recent years has influenced us more than social media it has created many ways to engage people.

Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein define social media as "a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, and that allow the creation and exchange of user-generated content”(Haenlein).
