How do we know every time we perform an abortion that we aren’t taking the life of the person who would one day grow up and find the cure for AIDS, or become president? Every huma... ... middle of paper ... ...y to defend themselves against it. The longer we keep abortion legal, the more and more innocent lives will be taken by people who are probably just cleaning up after a irresponsible mistake. If we made abortion illegal again, people would start to become more careful in their sexual acts because if they don’t they will have a baby to live with and raise. When discussing abortion, we should keep the women’s health as a major concern.
Ronald Regan (1983) said “Abortion is advocated only by persons who have themselves been born” (pg. N/A). He was saying that a person who had a chance to live is ending the life of another person, who wasn’t allowed an opportunity to say whether or not he/she wanted to live. So abortion should not be considered as the only way to get out of a pregnancy because the woman could get breast cancer after the abortion process is over, the person may experience psychological damage due to aborting the child, and the woman is ending a human life. The first reason abortions should not be allowed is because the woman could get breast cancer after having the abortion.
Today, in the news, you hear a lot about abortions becoming illegal in some states. The states should not make abortions illegal, and not give women that choice because if the women were to want an abortion bad enough they would find somewhere else to get it done and more than likely it would be unsafe for her “it seems unlikely that making abortion illegal will actually reduce the number of abortions per year.” (Hansen) Abortion should be an option for every woman who is pregnant because if a woman were to become pregnant and she knew she didn’t want a baby or could not provide for it properly, than the baby has no business being born unwanted or poorly taken care of. In the book Pro: Reclaiming Abortion Rights by
On the other hand, opponents of abortion say if we are able to create life why can’t we destroy it along with certain situations people believe it is okay for abortion such as if the baby has a deformity or the young girl gets pregnant. Since legalizing abortion death rates have skyrocketed so, congress should endorse the right-to-life amendment because many citizens believe that the right to life amendment should begin with conception to end of... ... middle of paper ... ...00 US children available in June of 2002.Instead of women having abortions there should give their unwanted babies to people who cannot conceive. Abortion eliminates potential human beings; just imagine if the mothers of our nation’s heroes would have had abortions. Couples who are having abortions because they know the child will have a disability is not right that is discrimination, just because they have disabilities do not make them any less of a person. Also a lot of times with women having abortions there first time pregnant there is a very high chance that they will have problems getting pregnant again or even not are able to get pregnant again when they are ready.
He vaguely says that he thinks that women should privately decide to use RU-486 if they want to and that the government should not decide for them. My view on abortion is that it is up to the mother whether she wants to do it or not. It all depends on the situation. I think that if the baby is conceived due to rape or incest, then it is ok to abort it, but if the baby is made due to carelessness, then it is the parents’ responsibility to take care of it. Adoption is always an option.
Because of this, each side can always say that the foetus is or isn't alive and that you are or aren't killing a baby through abortion. Pro-choice campaigners also say that doctors have no better right than the mothers to deem whether and abortion is necessary. Additionally, they say that if abortions were made illegal, thousands of women would risk their lives in dirty back... ... middle of paper ... ... they are physically or mentally handicapped- they can come to terms with it- why can't we? I have noticed that all the arguments against abortion are impersonal and are based on the idea that life doesn't start until birth, but with medical advances a baby born as early as 24 weeks can survive in the world. So since birth is so unpredictable, that cannot be seen as the start of life.
The fetus inside the woman's body may be alive, but we can’t tell whether or not it will become a potential human (Alcorn). Even though science is a major part of abortion, we never really know when human life begins (Alcorn). However, that doesn’t mean it’s okay to abort a child. Many believe having an unplanned pregnancy is a curse, but I believe it is a blessing in disguise. I believe that abortion should be illegal because it is equal to murder, you can always place the child up for adoption, and abortion can affect a woman mentally and physically.
Karen insisted everything was ok, that she was just sick. But she wasn’t ok; she was bleeding to death. This is just one tragic story that is the result of a teenage girl not being able to have an abortion, not having society excepting of it, and just one negative effect that will come about if our nation becomes completely pro-life. Abortion is one of the biggest controversies in American society today. There are those who are pro-life, seeing abortion as totally wrong under any circumstances, and there are those who are pro-choice, viewing the mother's right to make decisions over her own body.
In the article “All Abortions Must Be Illegal” the president of the American Life Judie Brown and the director of public Relations for American Life League says “All choices should not be legal or protected, and abortion is one that should not be legal. Allowing abortion in cases of rape or incest punishes the innocent child more than the guilty rapist”. The question is “Who should make the choice to kill preborn babies?” the answer is “Nobody”. Therefore, most women "choice" abortion precisely because they believe they have no other choice.” Abortion has change in our society today now because the women have the right to choose to abort or having the baby. Abortion is a medical or surgical procedure that ends a pregnancy.
Others may think it would be better if the woman carrying the fetus should carry the fetus to full term and just give the baby up for adoption instead of turning to adoption for a way out. No woman could live her life normally knowing her child is somewhere out in the world calling someone else mom and dad. In a recent survey the statics state that fifty-two percent of todays society think abortions should be legal under specific circumstances, while twenty-six percent think abortions should just be legal with no strings attached and the other twenty percent think abortions should be outlawed and illegal (Sadd, Lydia).
