Eating disorder is when an individual has an abnormal eating habit that normally tends to result in serious health problems. Individuals with eating disorders worry about their body shape and have much beliefs and emotions surrounding the concept of food and weight. Such a disorder is often a response to stress. Anorexia nervosa, binge-eating, and bulimia nervosa are examples of eating disorders. Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder marked by excessive weight-loss and starvation. It is an eating disorder that considers individuals to be at least 15% below expected body weight (Rosenberg and Kosslyn, 2011). Since the person is in starvation mode, he or she does not acquire the essential elements that the body needs, thereby leading to a high risk of diseases such as osteoporosis and possibly even death. It is evident that about 10-15% who are hospitalized for anorexia nervosa ultimately die (Rosenberg and Kosslyn, 2011).
