Effective Practitioner

A professional social worker, always ensure an anti-discriminatory practice in relation to clients services. As Thompson (2012:9) pointed out, “no matter how high its standards may be in other aspects” a first-class practitioner recognize the “marginalised position” of some people in a society. For instance, a social worker who offers quality services to any other people apart from the minorities failed to do a service to the client and is doing a disservice instead. However, the discrimination against a person is unlawful when that person is a member of the protected class. A protected class is protected by law. A supervisor asks a representative of the institution to go to the local college for career advices, but he wants one of the graduates of that certain college to go there. It is not a discriminatory situation for the other colleagues as non-graduates of that college are not a member of a protected class. The law takes severe measures against the employers who make decision based on race, colour, disability or gender. A professional organisation creates professionals individuals if it strictly enforced the code of ethics which prohibit discrimination. A good practitioner knows the law and how to apply it at work.

The 18th century tried to deal with the Britain’s necessity of one major force to cope with the crimes and disorder. A local town watchman was unable to maintain the community safety and the army involvement resulted in disturbance. ...ted task on time. A police officer has a long way to go to facilitate a successful career. There are many difficulties that can be managed only with a great set of skills. An officer who has the ability to show a responsible attitude or to assess difficult situation with a positive approach is a professional practitioner able to develop intelligence. In addition it can be observed that the recruitment team requires applicants with a great physical condition. It is because a career in Police Service requires courage and initiative even in life-threatening situations. Also, numerical skills develop the ability to think logically in spontaneous situations. Whoever is ready to take the lead in this journey should be prepared for hard work. “A strong sense of their own identities as practitioners” is the perfect tool to “make a difference in the world” (Edwards, 2010:1).
