Education is crucial for success even though it takes a lot of time and energy. The educational system has been improved in many ways in most countries. Many countries have different ways of offering education because of their wealth and other reasons. Also, people travel from one country to another to get a quality education. Some countries give their citizens education for free while others charge a lot of money. Those who charge a lot might give a worthy education because they spend a lot to make sure they are giving a decent education. The education system in the U.S and my country, Ethiopia, mainly differ in course requirements and available resources. Students are not required to buy books and have internet access, and they can borrow books and other materials from the school because the government tries to reduce the cost for students. Also, many professors give paper handouts to their students, or they always have to take notes when the professor gives a lecture. Also, the professors do not give a lot of assignments for their students, and they usually teach the course material in class; however, students are expected to study a lot. For example, I used to study many hours when I was in Ethiopia, and I would not have homework every day. Moreover, schools have not well-organized resources in Ethiopia. For example, schools do not have enough library and laboratory resources: Libraries do not have enough books for students, and laboratories do not have enough equipment either. In addition, there is no academic helping center in schools unlike the U.S, and students need help each other to be successful. To summarize, the U.S and Ethiopia have two major differences in education; however, students should work hard to be successful in both countries. Also, students should make a wise decision to choose which school they have to go wherever the school
Academic excellence is the primary desire of every parent and student. However, there are varying perceptions of the role of education in the life of and individual. According to the survey carried out on the perception of the role of education in the life of an individual, it was established that eight out of ten students were of the view that they pursued education for the purpose of economic gains. Additionally, six out of ten students viewed education as serving the purpose of broadening their view and perceptions in life. Haiti’ education is tougher and you learn more. My cousin who left Haiti when he was almost done with high school when he went to Cardozo HS in Queens and he said the mathematics and science that he was studying was materials he studies at a younger grade in Haiti. The American Education System has been a core component to the development of generations since it became a public system in the 1870s. Since then more rules, higher expectations for some, and even lower expectations for others have been added to the original structure. In recent years, many debates have surfaced over whether the American education system is failing. Too few they believe the American Education System is on the right track. Most researchers however have shown statistics that it is in fact slowly declining as new acts and regimens are added. It has been on a downward spiral for years and citizens have been watching it happen, the lack of government funding, acts like the No Child Left behind Act, focus in the wrong places, and the curriculum set up is acting as a deterrent for success.
Here in America every single child is sent to school starting at the age of five years old for kindergarten, and sometimes as early as two years old for pre-school and continue on to get an education late into their twenties, some even going on to take classes the rest of their lives. Education in America is something that is readily available and even is required by law, but taken for granted by many children. On flip side third world countries often do not have schools or public education mandated by government, and most times it is not even available when most children yearn for it. Education is taken for granted in America, and in third world countries where education is almost completely absent something can be learned from their determination to further their knowledge.

If one has a high education, then they will be able to make a better living for themselves. No school system is alike, some are better than others. Being the 1st generation of an Ethiopian-American family is like living two lives. On one side I would go to the movies and school dances on weekdays. Meanwhile, for my Ethiopian side I would attend gualyas that lasted until 2 am and would have to speak Tigrinya at home. But then once it hit Monday morning I would switch it back to english at school making sure I had no accent was heard. However, growing up I realized that in both the American and Ethiopian side, one core value that was important in both is education.

While in Ethiopia school system is divided to primary school which is class one to class six, junior secondary school is junior secondary school (JSS) one to three, and senior secondary school (SSS) one to four and the school operates on the two shift bases and is not free because of outnumber of students in the school system. In the United States, teaching and learning process utilizes interactive instruction methods such as discussions, teamwork activities, and community service projects to elicit imaginative thinking, problem solving and decision making toward a goal of meaningful insight which is a key factor to help student succeed while the teaching and learning process in Ethiopia school system is to complete the syllabus since there is no chance for interactive process and at the end you found out that student can be college graduates but find it difficult to read a middle school level text book. With this plan of the school curriculum in the American educational system, the best quality training will brining students ' to ultimate success in life, and the curriculum places great importance on this principle. As for student progress, they are given increasing autonomy in the direction of their work, but also encourage how to work cooperatively with others.
