Education is a fundamental aspect that everyone should acquire to. A successful educational reflects a state of a country civilization. One of the key aspects to a success educational process is the availability of proper facilities and infrastructure. This aspect might cause a reason for the commercialization in the education. Higher education, such as university becomes a trade for several parties that have control in both education and its institutions. They took the very high profit with the reason of providing a good quality education, which should be very expensive. Education is not only about getting a job; it is about freedom to academic and study. Academic freedom is the ability to encourage students to be more flexible in academic work, and scholars or lecturers in communicating ideas without limit (Gholipour & Abbasi, 2009, p. 17). They point out that it is obvious if the learning outcomes in a corporate university are to produce a high skilled training person that is the market target. The researchers or scholarship recipients are increasing as academic labor that work for corporate needs instead of fulfilling basic demands for research that supposed to be designed as a public good or as a tool to improve the pubic life. “In the corporate university, academies are expected to be "academic entrepreneurs," valuable only for the money and prestige they bring, and not for the education they can offer” (Giroux, 2008). Corporatization has given adverse influenced in the way of research and scholarship, as it is limited the capacity of the experts in producing their works.
Commercialization in education is not totally wrong, sometimes it is needed to support the process of education. But, when the education is used as a tool to achieve profit as the ultimate goal, the essence of the educational process will no longer be perceived and delivered to learners. Higher education is not supposed to be a commodity, it is a human right. Commercialization in a university could be a threat to future education process.
