“Never discourage anyone who continually makes progress, no matter how slow.” (Plato) The reason I chose the quote above was because I believe it is talking about not discouraging anyone academically, physically and mentally. I feel like there are so many children who have special needs that get discouraged by so many people. Children and adults who have a disability are marginalized by many people. There are multiple people that I have seen stare at someone with special needs like they are not even human. When someone looks at someone the way I have seen some people look at them, it breaks my heart. Every person has feelings, who cares what they look like, what color they are, or their race. Anyone can do anything they want if they put their mind and heart into their goal. I believe trying to reach a goal is hard when people are constantly putting someone down. The goal is especially hard to reach for children who have a special needs. The children who have special needs have to be taught by special education teachers. Special education is identified as the physical, cognitive, academic, social-emotional instruction for children who have one or multiple disabilities. In 2012-2013 school year, students receiving special education aid was 6.4 million; almost thirteen percent of public school students. There were thirty-five percent of students who received the learning who had a specific learning disability. Is special education talk about enough with teachers, parents and students? There are multiple parents that think if they send their child who has special needs to an ordinary school then they are doing what is best for their child. So many teachers do not even think about changing their lesson plans to fit every student in t... ... middle of paper ... ...e a choice and that teachers and parents should work together to figure out the best plan for each type of learner. If there is no progression in one way then change the atmosphere so the student can learn. Do educators keep the students in a mainstream classroom and have an aid to come in and help the students who need the extra push? I believe that some students can benefit from the aid. I believe the main focus is that educators need to focus on what is best for the students and not what is easy for them to do. Not every students is going to learn the same way, so we cannot teach them all in the same way. One way to become organized and get children to focus better is to set up a routine or a schedule every day, people do better when there is a set routine in their everyday life. Each person will succeed in their own way, but will succeed with the help of others.
