Ecommerce
The Internet has caught on like wild fire. No one ever intended for it to be so commercially successful. In the beginning, its main purpose was to send and receive messages; no one anticipated that one-day people could buy books and cars over a computer. Though with the advancement of certain technologies, this has happened. E-commerce is a worldwide commodity that has taken the place of trips to the supermarket and has given us the freedom to conduct business at out house in our pajamas.
To fully understand what e-commerce is, you must first understand where it came from. It all started with the DOD (Department of Defense) in 1996. After the Cold War the Government wanted a reliable line of communication. If a network link became damaged by enemy attack, the information on it could be rerouted automatically to other links. This was the birth of the Internet. In order to use anything on the Internet, it is required that you learn to operate a separate program, one for the mail, one for news groups, and several different programs for accessing databases.
This all changed in 1989. A researcher at CERN (a big European physics laboratory) named Tim Berners-Lee started to work on hypertext. By using hypertext he could link together all the different kinds of information available on the Internet.
Berners-Lee called the software pack the World Wide Web.
For the World Wide Web to work, each page has it’s own address that the web recognizes using a system called HTTP (Hypertext Transport Protocol). Each page has to be written with a special language called HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). This language tells the computer how to display a page.
Now with the invention of the web, Businesses can use pictures to help sell their merchandise online, And now that the Internet is everywhere- in schools, libraries, and even cafes – anyone can order just about anything from anywhere.
It is now easier than ever to have and start your own web page; anyone form a big corporation or even the average joe can build his for her own web page. Just like Jeff Bezos, Time magazine’s Person of the Year of 1999. With a loan from the bank, Jeff founded Amazon.com in his garage and helped start e-commerce, as we now know it.
Frederick Douglass was an American slave in the south during the time of the abolitionist movement. During his time in slavery he learned his ABC’s from a benevolent slave owner and from there teaches himself how to read. Using this knowledge he is able to learn about the abolitionist movement in the north and eventually plans his escape from his captivity in Baltimore. Many years after his escape he is able to write and publish the narrative of his life with the purpose of showing abolitionist and those on the fence about slavery in the North that the institution is not all it is portrayed to be. During Douglass’s time many slave owners painted a different view of the South and how kind and just slavery was. In his narrative Douglass fights this claim by depicting frightening violations of human rights that occurred in his own life time to show abolitionist that slavery is blatantly against american justice and liberty.
Selling through Lululemon’s own company network of retail stores as well as online and pop-up stores. Their products are mainly sold through three channels, including direct sales to consumers, retail stores owned by the company, and smaller channels such as wholesale and franchising. A retail store is a channel that keeps in touch with customers and remains active. It plays an important role in brand building and continuous development, and it can also better display its brand culture. In addition, Lululemon launched concept activities such as health clubs, fitness centers and yoga studios, and has enhanced its brand image through wholesalers and other channels.
Many believe the internet was an over night sensation, that one day, someone invented the internet and it spread in popularity faster than Tickle Me Elmo or the Macarena. Although the internet did have a surge of commercial popularity, with the invention of Mosaic and later with e-commerce, it was created many years ago with the development of military networking technologies. Also, the internet, unlike many pop culture fads of the nineties, will continue to see a growth in popularity and usefulness as a form of media throughout the information age. Sure, the internet became overambitious to the point where many internet start-up companies lost their businesses in the recession of the past few years. The quality of the internet, however, has increased as companies realize that there exists competition and smarter consumers that demand superiority. The internet has taken the world so far in its short commercial life; the future of the internet provides limitless possibilities of a much different future.
Humans are inherently evil. Human nature is to take leadership when there is no “power” figure. This, in some cases, may be a good thing if the leader knows how to control his power and the things around him, but most of the time it turns out bad and they become similar to a dictator. In Lord of the Flies just after the boys’ crash on the island, they have an assembly to decide what will happen next. In the assembly, one of the many topics brought up, was who should be chief. In the midst of a near argument, ...
From witnessing slavery and its atrocious accounts, to becoming a voice and a paragon for racial freedom from segregation, Frederick Douglass, a self-educated, free African American, became a beacon of hope against the ideals of slavery and its constant abhorring classification of the African community. As a child, Frederick was a lone soul, neither fitting with the Anglo race, for he was not white, or with the slave community, for he was not born into slavery and had attained a higher level of privilege for having a lighter skin tone than his brethren. The narrative of his life was a cautionary tale of life, abuse, and an overall enlightenment to what slavery truly was depicted through the eyes of Douglass. Witnessing every inhumane and atrocity
E-commerce, a system by which people can buy, sell and deal without even seeing the person on the other side, has taken a front seat in improving the economy of countries around the world. Technology today has made it possible for monetary institutions to help locate the customers resources and help solve their problems at any given time through online banking.... ... middle of paper ... ...
One of the fundamental factors that has affected the process of economic globalization is the improvements in the technology of transportation and communications. This has reduced the costs of transporting goods, services, and factors of production and of communicating economically useful knowledge and technology. There is no doubt that advances in information and communications technology are the most important technological advances of the past quarter century (Mussa, 2000). By far, the most important and business altering advancement is the internet. There is evidence everywhere that the internet has greatly affected international trade. The internet has opened up the world, and brought it right into everyone's home and business. In addition, technology and the internet have greatly reduced the costs of doing business. Even the smallest operation can now go global via the internet at almost no cost. However, there are still some problems that face these e-commerce activities. These problems are shot-term challenges and can be met. The key issues center around two areas:
Ecommerce is the process of buying and selling of goods and services using internet, it can be done anytime anywhere without considering time variance between countries and places. Any ecommerce step either purchase or sale should be legally straightforward. You receive money from the customer for a certain sale based on delivering the purchased product on time and with specified quality (Siassios, 2015).
In her book, McCue- an advisor to U.S. Government, United Nations, and World Bank organizations on trade development, e-commerce, e-government, and youth issues since 1991– indicates that Internet is used as sales and marketing medium but this sales channel is not as viable as expected because a huge number of competitive websites are growing exponentially. In addition, misunderstanding e-commerce and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can result in ineffective business practices. She also provides handy checklists, detailed outlines of key operating principles, and insider tips of what to do, what not to do and where to find information for building an e-commerce strategy and executing it in an integrated marketing program. This book also has templates and techniques for strategy and addition resources. And more important, the ideas presented here can be used in all organizations, from small to large e-commerce enterprises in this fast-changing world.
E-commerce application is a platform where there is buying and selling of products and services which are done by businesses and consumers via an electronic medium, mostly without using any paper documents. “E-Commerce applications support transactions between businesses and their customers. They provide 24/7 customer support, allowing customers to order products, check orders and track shipping, review previous orders, reorder products, and manage their accounts.” (Auburn SeeWolf llc , 2009-2012)
When you log onto the Internet using Netscape, Microsoft Internet Explorer, or some other browser, you are viewing documents on the World Wide Web. The current foundation on which the WWW functions is the programming language called HTML. It is HTML and other programming embedded within HTML that make possible Hypertext.
