Living healthy always starts in your home, and why not let it start by eating healthier foods. However, eating healthy doesn’t simply include avoiding fast foods or products with high sugars, instead eating healthy includes the types of fruits, vegetables, eggs, milk and meats eaten at home. Simply buying more vegetables and fruits is not enough anymore. Today, many of our local markets sell produce that is covered in trans fats, high calories, preservatives, and grown using toxic pesticides that can potentially harm the body. Not only do local markets tend to disguise their produce in what they call “a healthy option” but often rip people off for their efforts to attain a healthy diet. Luckily, we live in the U.S.A where it is an individual’s choice to pick where he/she prefers to shop. If you are looking for a healthy living, the perfect alternative is shopping at a local farmer’s market. In fact, our bodies need what they call, “good fats” in order to stay healthy. According to an article written by Kathleen M. Zelman, Good fats are “an important part of a healthy diet: They provide essential fatty acids, keep our skin soft, deliver fat-soluble vitamins, and are a great source of energizing fuel.” Good fats include things such as monosaturated fats, omega 3-s, and polysaturated fats that help the body. Not all fats are bad, in fact good fats can help you maintain a good healthy weight and moreover help you be mentally stable. In the market I found nuts and salmon, which are healthy fats, but still couldn’t find a single soda or a bag of chips. It was surprising to me that I couldn’t find a soda anywhere. For the first time in my life I kind of felt conflicted though I should of guessed farmers markets wouldn’t have many unhealthy
