1. Eating disorders in our present society can be viewed as a multi-determined disorder for various reasons. The current definition of a multi-determined disorder is when there is more than one factor with a wide range of causes that creates the disorder to form. Negative influences from family members, friends, the western culture, or even a specific cultural may harshly impact a person and influence how he or she should live their life. Anorexia and Bulimia are both to be considered as a multi-determined disorder that is influenced greatly by socio-cultural, biological and psychological factors. Dieting is a fast way for one to lose weight, by restricting unhealthy food choices and minimalizing portion sizes. Although in most scenarios diets are quite successful in weight loss, dieting will most likely lead to binge eating. Binge eating occurs when a person has no control over eating and consumes food every two hours larger than the normal proportion. Dieting is a large trigger for binge-eating that can cause psychological and physiological problems. Usually, after someone diets for a long period of time binge-eating develops and the person will; eat much more rapidly than normal, eating until uncomfortably full, consuming large portions of food when not feeling hungry, eat alone to not feel judged and feel disgusted, guilty and depressed with oneself afterward. If a person has dieted for a long period of time, once they begin to eat the unhealthier food options again they will more likely to crave the sugars and salts they have been limited to when dieting, resulting in binge eating. When a person is forced into dieting, the body will adapt to the higher nutrient foods and the body will begin to miss the unhealthy options. If a person decides to stop the diet and begin to eat the saltier and sweeter foods, their body will now latch on to all the fat of the unhealthy food as a result of weight gain. It is best to not diet and to portion control your food instead, to keep a healthy diet and stay away from binge eating. Although dieting will allow your body to lose weight in a fast period of time however when you have reached your goal, your body will crave and want to eat the things you used to and cause weight gain even quicker than normal since your body was missing the fattier foods. Dieters who lead to binge eating also become unstable and have no control of the food they consume, it becomes very unhealthy physically and psychologically.
