Recommended: Early childhood philosophy

I need to be aware of and follow the philosophy of the program. There is no need to be new policies developed at this moment. I am going to set up a meeting with the family to communicate the philosophy of the program and the value of play.

1. Decide on a plan of action by meeting with the parents
2. Help parents comprehend that decisions about a child’s growth and development should be collected over time and cannot be evaluated by one test.
3. Help parents understand that kindergarten readiness is encompassed of many parts—the characteristics, skills, abilities of the individual child; the child’s preschool experience, the transition to kindergarten, and the characteristics of the child’s family. The term ratio describes the number of children one caregiver is watching. This number is one of the major factors in the quality of a childcare program. Organizations such as the National Association for the Education of Young Children know as NAEYC release recommendations regarding ratios and accredit programs based on their compliance. Childcare centers and homes must comply with certain minimum standards enforced by Texas regarding ratios; however, these standards often set the bar lower than recommendations made by these early childhood experts.
