Education has been a part of our society and culture since the beginning of human community. Education has been known simply as the passing on of information to the next generation. The clergy educated future members how to read and copy passages of religious texts. Masters of trade would pass on the knowledge of their trade whether it be blacksmithing, farming, shipping, or trade onto apprentices for them to master and pass on to their apprentices. Over time the concept of education evolved, focusing primarily on educating students within schooling system, the basic information needed to function in society. The brain of a child develops the most in the early stages of life and that is when students should be taught the basics. Early childhood programs and schools are an essential building block of a child’s life. It is there where they will learn how to read, write, do rudimentary math, and understand simple history and science concepts which are keys to understanding the world around them thus being allowing them to become a part of the public. Society needs to recognize how fundamental early childhood schooling is for children. Not only because they “teach” but because they serve as a comforter, mentor, encourager, and basically a light to children to show them the beauty of knowledge and the importance of passing it down. Being a teacher can be hard because you see these children grow up and go through the year sometimes struggling and hating school because it’s hard. All you want is for them to understand the material presented but you don’t know how. You can see their motivation trickling away as you try every trick in the book and outside the box to get them to understand the lesson but the lightbulb inside their brains still will not turn on. You study with them, and work one on one with them until finally, after much time, sweat, tears, and long afternoons of studying, they get it. It’s a revelation of euphoria for them understanding the information and for the teacher, knowing that the student finally gets it. Personally having that kind of teacher and seeing their motivation, encouraged me and will other students to pursue knowledge even when it gets
