This semester I decided to be an ESL tutor for the International Program and Dr. Azocar. When I first made the decision, I did it solely for the extra money. I figured that a couple of hours once a month or less would be a great way to make some extra money for Christmas time. ESL tutors are paid ten dollars a session, so I figured I would tutor my tutees twice maybe and make forty extra dollars to spend at Christmas time. Once I started to get more involved in the ESL tutoring process, I learned that this experience would be so much more than just east money, it was instead a very big learning opportunity.

The purpose of the study is to compare divergent teaching methods in Canada and China, and to identify which teaching approaches are effective to Chinese ELL students. The research contains pre- and post-tests, and one open-ended survey for 20 Chinese ELL students at one university in Canada.
