ENTJ personality types are natural born leaders that make up a mere 2% of the population. They are strong willed and results driven individuals that always get the job done. However these individuals tend to struggle with the handling of others emotions. For this reason ENTJ’s must remain actively aware of their actions as to not crush those around them. Through a series of tests and research I was able to learn more about myself as an ENTJ. This research enabled me to discover various factors about myself that will aid me in becoming a better employee, manager, and co-worker.

This is a major feature of my personality. No matter what job I have chosen to do since I entered the work force at 16, I was determined to do it well. For example as a retail worker working through high school and college my managers would always bestow tasks upon me as they would say “I know you will get it done, and done well”. Before I was aware of personality typing I considered myself a compulsive worker. However, now that I know what my personality type is and the implications of it, it is evident that these are just results of the different components of my personality working together. Some personality traits used to describe ENTJ’s are ambitious, forceful, optimistic, egotistical, adaptable, and energetic. I feel like ambitious, forceful, and adaptable are traits that best describe me. A combination of these attitudes can be wonderful in that they mold tough, hard-working individuals. However, I recognize that these traits can make me tougher on others than I should be. As an individual I am very ambitious and am willing to do whatever to obtain a positive outcome. It is important for me to keep in mind that not every personality type sees hard labor as a “means to an end”. ENTJ personality types struggle with others emotions and this alone can making working with an ENTJ difficult. However, once one has gotten to know an ENTJ they will most likely find that they are just strong-willed and simply want success for everyone involved. ENTJ’s can also learn from personality types that are stronger in sensing emotions as this is a weakness for ENTJ’s. Leadership is something that comes naturally to ENTJ’s. People with this personality type crave the responsibility that comes with being a leader and tend to gravitate towards this role even when working in a group. Conflict is inevitable in any career field. Different personality types handle conflict differently. ENTJ personality types, being extroverts, proclaim their thoughts and feelings to others. While doing this can help by gaining the input of others, it is also quite likely to cause a conflict with others whose views differ from theirs. Overall, the INTJ type is an accurate description of my personality. I concur with the assessments that INTJ’s do not “take criticism personally” and they are not “afraid of hard work, and will put forth a great deal of effort towards something that they are interested in” (INTJ Personal Growth, 2014). I am confident in my own abilities and take no offense at work if others are able to show me a better/easier way of performing a task (as long I am approached professionally). Additionally, I am usually whole-heartedly committed toward efforts when I see the importance or benefit from such actions. For example, if I need to put in a few 15-16 hours days to ensure the job is done on-time and correctly I will do so without much thought. My temperament of “NT” also known as the “Rationals” is consistent with what I see in myself (The Four Temperaments, 2014). ENFP also known as the campaigner is my personality type (16 personalities). I never realized what my personality type was until after finally doing this paper. It was a very eye opening assignment and made me realize and understand my personality type so much more. It’s exciting to know how I work. It amazes me at how I represent the ENFP exactly how it’s described, it’s crazy. I feel like I can better myself now, knowing that that’s just normal or my personality type. Before I would question myself on why I could never focus on just one task at a time, I would always want to explore more before I was finished. Now that I know that’s normal, I can work on improving myself. The campaigner represents a true free spirit.
Three aspects of my personality are avoidant, high on conscientiousness and a high need for achievement. These personality characteristics were studied using different theories, the attachment theory, Big Five, and the motivational theory. Together, these aspects make me who I am. ENTJ, is known as “The Field Marshal” or “The Executive.” Sources say my personality type has the potential to make great CEO’s or politicians. According to my research; ENTJ’s are known to have excellent speaking skills: which can assist in making public addresses or explaining new business models to a board of directors from a power point. However, first and most important to identify and study my own personal preferences. Kroeger (2002) said “the whole process starts with understanding yourself” (Kroeger, 2002). He then goes on to describe INTJs as self confident, balanced, intelligent, independent, and competent (Kroeger, 2002). Typology has helped me to recognize the strengths of my personality but also the weaknesses. INTJs can lack in interpersonal skills, communication, asking for help, and teaching. They can sometimes come off as controlling and arrogant. For example, we recently put in new machinery at work which required each of us to have additional training. As a INTJ, I welcomed the change and quickly adapted the new technology. However, it was hard for me to be sensitive to the needs of other coworkers who did not understand the new technology and training and needed more time to
The bases of this paper will be based on the results that I had obtained when I took the Myers-Briggs personality test. The results that I had obtained was that I was determined to be an ENFJ. I will go into depth about letter and how each represents that a specific aspect of my personality. The results that I had received were not what I had expected, but the more I read about the trait the more I realized how it suited me. I will also talk about the information that I had found useful from the book, Type Talk at Work: How the 16 Personalities Types Determine Your Success on the Job by Otto Kroeger, which gave me insight on how to interact with other personality types especially in the work environment. The information that I absorbed from the personality test and from the book will go into use in my personal and work life so that both environments will be cohesive and peaceful.
This paper researches the typical traits of the INTJ personality type according to the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator. Additionally, I will be discussing the opposite personality of INTJ, type ESFP. I will detail two past experiences where my INTJ personality posed problems. This paper will also explore strategies that may benefit the INTJ personality type, myself included.
Upon taking the Myers Briggs personality test on the human metrics website I was not surprised that I received the conclusion of an ENTJ or “the natural born leader”. The role of an ENTJ is that you conduct yourself in a manner that is very logical and rational (“Personality”). However, in reflection of my past teamwork experiences in class, I am often one of the organizers and stronger voices, connecting me with being a natural leader. In reflection of past job experience, I found it related to a low tolerance for incompetency and also being a natural leader, but did not demonstrate being a visionary or argumentative. My past job experience includes refereeing youth soccer matches and serving at Anthony’s Beach Café. My experience refereeing youth soccer matches forced me to become a leader, taking control of parents and the players, allowing me to mature well being in a position of authority. Well working as a server at Anthony’s I have developed very high expectations for myself, displaying my low tolerance for mistakes and increasing my productivity. Discussed below are different researchers’ arguments and explanations on how personality predicts employee performance. This essay will explore both negative and positive ways in which personality can predict the performance, as well as explaining what personality is. Past research has “demonstrated that personality constructs are associated with work performance, with some traits like conscientiousness predicting success around jobs. Other linked with specific occupations e.g. extraversion correlates with success in sales and management as well as training performance supporting”, (Barrick et al., 2002, 87: p.43).
My results said that I have an ISFJ personality. My scores were introvert (56%), Sensing (31%), Feeling (16%), and Judging (44%). The assessment stated that ISFJs frequently find themselves in occupations that either involves a lot of dealings with other people and require thoroughness and persistence. They work in organizations of various sizes and industries, where as a rule they work with people. Very often ISFJs recognize their potential in healthcare (nurse, patient care, and medical services, as well as administrative jobs) and several community care organizations. I do agree with some of the Jung Typology Seal assessments. I agree with being an introvert since I am a person that is reserved and to myself half of the time, but, on the other hand, I do like to serve others. I do not agree that I am overworked. If I get to the point to where I feel overworked, I will go to my boss and discuss the matter, so that I can get help with my work before resulting in some of extent psychosomatic illnesses. It is remarkable that by answering a few basic questions, a person can learn key characteristics of his or her personality. After taking the personality test, I learned my general personality type is “The Consul” (ESFJ-A). Individual traits of my personality type are more extroverted than introverted, more observant than intuitive, more feeling than thinking, more judging than prospecting, and more assertive than turbulent. My role is Sentinel and my strategy is People Mastery (“Consul Personality,” 2017). An individual’s unique personality traits and attributes are a powerful indicator of how he/she will interact with the work environment. The difference between average and outstanding employees can often be solely personality related. The test has shown that my personality can be defined as ENFJ type. People who belong to this group are good leaders, organizers and idealists. They are good at communicating with other people, finding common language with others, initiating different projects and organizing the working processes. People of ENFJ personality type possess such traits as responsibility, creativity, openness to the world, self-development and sympathy. Such people are always ready to help others and use their experience for the sake of general well-being and success. It is also said that an ENFJ-type person can easily establish relationships with other individuals and believe in the potential of others.
