I feel more prepared for ENG 1123 than I did for ENG 1113 because I feel that ENG 1113 helped prepare me for this course. In that class, I became a stronger reader and writer by learning new skills and building on old skills that I learned from previous English courses. I have had experiences that I felt defined me as both a reader and writer. My junior year, I took AP Language and Composition and that class helped me to see myself as an exceptional writer. Last semester I was in ENG 1113 and the concepts and lessons that I learned in AP helped me with my writing in that course. A lot of my classmates and peers asked me to proofread their ENG 1113 papers and give them tips on how to word certain sentences. I enjoyed that experience because
During the English 160 course, I improved my approach to writing and developing papers, build on critical reading and grammatical skills, and exceed my previous abilities to write a strong paper as I took into consideration different genre based audiences. If my improvement does not exemplify my determination to learn and prepare for English 161, then I politely request you review my portfolio.
As the first semester of my sophomore year wraps up, I begin to realize that I have learned a lot in all of my classes. The class that I learned the most from has definitely been my English 111 course. This class have given me so many opportunities to improve my writing skills. With all of the success I’ve had in this class, I believe I will do just fine with writing later in my life.
English 1020 has enhanced my reading, writing, researching and reflecting skills by giving me the opportunity to practice writing, reading, and reflect on diverse topics. My perception of writing was also positively impacted by taking this course. I now view myself as skillful writer rather than just a college student taking writing courses to pursue my degree. I have become a skillful writer because I now take in consideration prior knowledge and new information I have gained from English 1020. I put into practice these skills whenever I write content relating to the four learning outcomes. Reading, writing, researching and reflecting are the four learning outcomes I utilized during the
Throughout the semester I have learned an astounding amount of information. The English 101 curriculum has not only taught me how to write in general, but also taught me a variety of ways to get my point across to the reader. Before I took English 101 I was an average writer at best, but now that I am taking a class that focuses on writing strategies I feel that I have been able to improve as a writer. During the course we were taught how to write an informative essay as well as how to write a persuasive essay. The type of writing that this class has taught me will most definitely help me with future classes as well as my future in the real world. Throughout the English 101 course I have been able to improve as a writer by composing essays
During the 4 weeks of my rotation, I thoroughly interviewed and examined numerous new and follow up patients in the CICU with a myriad of Heart Failure and Arrhythmia presentations. I devised and augmented patient-tailored management plans under direct supervision of the team's attending physicians; this included relative workup, definitive therapy and follow up. I also took part with the residents in their daily activities and helped them with various procedures including insertion of central lines, arterial lines and taking part in CODEs. I also attended NOON Conferences daily and Grand Rounds
Writing has never been a strength I have possessed. English 102 has been difficult and challenging for me because I have had to move past the high school level of a basic book report or a five paragraph paper that has narrowed my ideas of writing for many years. Putting on paper what my thoughts are in a way that is logical and accurate for what the assignment is asking has been hard for me this semester. My ideas are now more involved because I have learned through English 102 how to develop my writing skills in different formats, for example, in an annotated bibliography and a research paper. English 102 has taught me many things about writing like locating sources from the library and on line as well as continuing
During this first/semester of college I found English 101 a lot different from English in high school. In high school, English was more reading based, and college was my writing based. I tend to favor writing more because I really despise reading. Since English 101 is more writing based, I feel like I did improve on my writing skills a bit because I learned topics like rhetorical analysis and rhetorical situations in a more in depth way. Since I did not practice writing as much in high school, I think my writing skills weren’t very polished because I didn’t have much practice before college. In this class, I feel like I learned how important it is to stay organized in writing, developing a thesis, and determining the tone.
Before my senior year I was a high C low B student doing the bear minimum in all my classes and definably wasn’t college ready. I heard a rumor that AP English 4 was the hardest course at my high school so being stubborn person I was I decided to enroll in it. I remember walking into that class the first day and seeing a two headed demon baby doll among a collection of weird creepy dolls and I knew that I made a mistake. The teacher wore all black and contently discouraged us by telling us that a good chunk of us will drop the class before the semester ends. I constantly struggled with keeping up with the content because of my bad study habits I acquired over the years like procrastination and being unorganized but I made a great effort to
This English 2201 multidisciplinary course, instructed by Professor Mckoy, refreshed and introduced writing disciplines that allow the writing process to be conducted and allow writers to effectively present and support their arguments. Throughout this class I have learned how to become a more focused, intelligent and developed writer as opposed to entering English 2201 prior. Understanding the distinctions between authoritative and popular resources allowed me to understand the critic and frame that goes into research and information passed along through media and publication companies to scholars and enthusiasts alike. This gave me the foundations to look at an ethical issue in my selected field of study and further relate to an issue that develops interest and awareness for a subject to further examine. The projects from category 1 allowed me to write
In this paper I’m going to write a reflection about EDIT 6110 - Advanced Instructional Design course I just completed. For the past eight weeks, I have taken the instructional training on how to create a successful blog, we created in our previous course and use the outline that my team of students developed, and I revised it to better suit the diverse group of students who volunteer to participate in the implementation. I had the privilege and opportunity of seeing teachers benefit and learn a new tool from my design, and the frustration of seeing technical challenges during and after implementation.
I scored a 66 out of 120. I was not surprised about my score because I tend to get very nervous before speaking in front of an audience. I become extremely intense and I tend to speak faster than usual. Being aware that more people fear public speaking is calming but during the act of actually speaking, I do not think that would come to mind. When I speak in front audiences I constantly think about not making an error, and finishing up my speech. At my high school graduation I had to deliver the salutatorian address. Before going on stage I felt like I couldn’t breathe, I was panicking. When I actually got on stage I began to speak faster than I should have, although I got my message across. My speech would have been much better if only I had
As I reflect on EDUC 6715: New and Emerging Technologies, I have learned effective and efficient ways of incorporating technology in the classroom. This course has helped broaden my knowledge on how to use the various technological devices to facilitate learning. As I look back on this course, I realized that technology is constantly evolving and transforming into newer technologies. It has been a delightful learning experience that provided me support on obtaining, adopting, and applying technology that will help to transform my classroom, school and community. This course has been instrumental in helping me to view technology as a tool, which will revolutionize education. Throughout this course, I have discovered ways to become more aware of technology on the horizon, make informed decisions, and reflect on ways I might implement it in my own classrooms in order to better prepare my students for
While reading chapter 1 of The American School and chapter 3 from the Educational Foundations textbook Why Teach? I was able to reflect and come up with many different questions, comments, and concerns about the reading material. Chapter 1 out of The American School textbook talked about thinking critically about history. The main points of this chapter were how to interpret school history, the purposes of educational history, globalization, racial and ethnic conflict, and themes in American educational history. While reading this I was able to reflect back on the past, and think about how schools were run years ago. Schools have changed very much over time, and this reading really made me think about different issues that schools had. The
New York City, gleams with the lights that inspires you to follow your heart as you walk across the sidewalk. The roads leads to many different opportunities so, choose wisely. My first ever plane ride was 8 years ago when, I was traveling all the way from India to the big apple. Being a 7 year old, I had absolutely no idea where I would end up today. First day of school comes and I am surprised by the new language, English. Everyone could speak it so properly expect me which, made me have less confident than others. However, my whole third class was super friendly who always tried to correct when, I struggled with my English. I would go home and say, “Mommy, look what I learned today.” Everyday was a new adventure filled with new words; English soon became the more comfortable to me than my
There are two concepts that I found interesting this week and this past week: the two kinds of sampling methods and their subtypes, and correlational research design method. The first type of sampling method is random sampling. This sampling method is used when a researcher wants his/her sample to be as random as possible in order to represent his/her target population and to draw an accurate conclusion on his/her findings. There are three subtypes of the random sampling method: simple, stratified, and cluster random sampling. The simple random sampling method is when everyone has an equal chance to be selected for a certain experiment; this type is the least bias and gives the most accurate conclusions. The second type is stratified random sampling, which is when the experimenter puts people in certain groups and then selects random people from each group; this is also where the researcher wants to mimic the actual percentages of his/her predetermined strategy. The last type of random sampling is cluster random sampling. This method is used when the researcher wants to select a cert...
