Introduction

According to the Dyslexia & Learning Disability Centre in Las Vegas, Dyslexia is an ability within the sensory mechanism of the nervous system to perceive the world with a multidimensional view. However it comes with poor word reading, word decoding, oral reading fluency and spelling. Though with appropriate teaching methods, dyslexic individuals can learn successfully throughout their lives. Also, when properly trained and informed, a dyslexic can use their natural abilities to shift perceptions, enhance creativity, refine thinking, and improve physical performance (Dyslexia & Learning Disability Centre).

Research shows that Dyslexia is not tied to intelligence but in fact occurs in people of all backgrounds and all intellectual levels. Many dyslexics have very high IQs and have gone on to accomplish outstanding things in their lives. For example, Albert Einstein was dyslexic and had an estimated IQ of 160; in addition, over half of the NASA employees have dyslexia (Dyslexia Facts and Statistics, 2010).

People with dyslexia excel in areas of art, computer science, design, drama, electronics, math, mechanics, music, physics, sales and sports (Dyslexia Facts and Statistics, 2010). However these gifts are rarely discovered and are put to use only until later in their lives. For example Einstein did not speak until he was four and did not read until he was seven, causing his teachers and parents to think he was mentally handicapped, slow and anti-social....
